The Price of this Candy Bar

Reply in thread

Am I uneducated about how SNAP works, or is this a rare Texas W?

I think it's outrageous that you can't even buy hygiene articles or medicines with SNAP, and in that way it'd make sense that something so non-nutritious like candy shouldn't be allowed? Alcohol isn't allowed either for example, despite the fact that beer would be (at least marginally) more nutritious than candy.

So other than increasing the stigma already associated with SNAP, is it really problematic to ban candy? Even if it's not a major cost point, the principle of "poor people are too dumb to budget themselves, so we won't let them buy necessities like diapers and tampons... but we'll gladly let them buy candy" just feels wrong to me?

Despite his unhygienic lifestyle, he lived to the age of 94. He died a few months after bathing for the first time in 60 years, having been persuaded by the inhabitants of the village to do so.

Damn, maybe he should have kept following his instinct.

Pedo party vote NO

Social media platforms would be required to implement age verification measures to ensure youth under 16 can’t create social media accounts and allow parents to oversee social media use by 16- and 17-year-olds.

Yes.

It's tiresome how lawmakers love to put a ton of shit into a single vote.

How many of those thousands are actual good comments though? Last time I was there, I swear the majority of comments were from bots reposting the same comments that were in previous threads. It felt peak dead-internet.
