The Tech Giant opposed the Demands – The Swedish Transport Administration signed anyway
This should be a case study and wake up call for public institutions everywhere about avoiding American tech Giants and vendor lock-in in general

Buying new electrical outlet, and the grounding are just a decoration
Reply in thread
Power strips can be grounded or ungrounded.
This particular power strip has ground pins on the outlets, but they're not connected to anything , making the power strip both dangerous and illegal. OP should notify the seller and relevant authorities.

Please don't use Discord for FOSS projects
The biggest problem with Discord is that its an information black hole. Its not properly searchable and not indexed by search engines.
Discord is fine for casual chat, but horrible when used for forum-type discussions and even worse when used for documentation.
You see the same problems being discussed and solved again and again, but you cant just "link" someone the solution like you could with a forum thread cause its spread out over 3-10 chat messages that are interleaved in-between other topics being discussed in the same room
Anything of long-term value for the project (forum-type discussions, documentation etc) should not recide in Discord

Can recommend, Dolphin makes life on windows slightly more tolerable. Kate for Windows is also amazing

the myth of the good tech giant
Using a mascot from big tech to protest against invasive big tech is tad confusing..

Which is better, Unity or Godot?
Building on top of Unity is a massive risk as made evident by last year's rug pull incident. And there's nothing stopping them from trying again

Have you changed you youtube pfp to clippy ?
Reply in thread
On the other hand, seeing this symbol more and more on other random videos outside that bubble does give a very nice sense of "I am not alone". It does more for users to find eachother than it does damage to big corpos.
But choice of the symbol itself is questionable.. Why use a big tech symbol to protest big tech? -__- And not just any big tech, but super evil 90s monopolistic giant Microsoft
There's a nice cartoon in this thread we're clippy is if he could have, he would have harvest all your data.

Reddit’s golden geese foul up its IPO plans
It's still disapointing to see media misrepresent the reason for the protests. Nobody went up in arms when Reddit announced they'll charge for API access, which was announced in April. The protests started because they're charging a bazillion dollars, aka "the fuck you price" effectively banning 3rd party apps without actually banning 3rd party apps
And the "strike" got extended due to the extremely poor handling of the protests from Reddit, like slandering the Apollo dev

Ugh indeed! Discord is an information black hole, where information enters never to be found again by search engines or even its members
I can understand replacing IRC with Discord, but using Discord as a forum is madness

Lightweight and flexible: Bitwarden lite self-host deployment is now generally available | Bitwarden
Wonder what's the reasoning behind offering this Lite version. I don't imagine competing with Vaultwarden is very lucrative financially.

Why won’t Steam Machine support HDMI 2.1? Digging in on the display standard drama.
AMD already spent a significant amount of effort implementing HDMI2.1 in their open driver in such a way that it would be compliment. The suits from HDMI consortium still said No.
https://www.phoronix.com/news/HDMI-2.1-OSS-Rejected
AMD Linux engineers have spent months working with their legal team and evaluating all HDMI features to determine if/how they can be exposed in their open-source driver. AMD had code working internally and then the past few months were waiting on approval from the HDMI Forum... Sadly, the HDMI Forum has turned down AMD's request for open-source driver support.
AMD Linux engineer Alex Deucher commented on the ticket:
"The HDMI Forum has rejected our proposal unfortunately. At this time an open source HDMI 2.1 implementation is not possible without running afoul of the HDMI Forum requirements."

Yes, and a few KDE apps work great on Android.
But more FOSS is more better, so GTK on Android is great news for both Android users and GTK developers

The other day i necrod a nearly 3 year old forumthread with some new information. A few hours later the person from 3 years ago came back and thanked me because the new information helped them. Sometimes nercomancy is good :)
