Reddit Admins hand /r/SnackExchange over to a moderator with no experience. Other subreddit moderators fight in comments.
This is why their moderators' best weapon is to not moderate and let all hell break loose. Reddit will then be forced to pull this shit and it'll go to hell fast. It's their best weapon, better than going NSFW or dark in protest. Just silently stop moderating and let Reddit and advertisers notice when they aren't.

Reddit mods are calling for an ‘affordable return’ for third-party apps
Just stop moderating them already. Don't go dark. Reddit will revert. Don't make it NSFW to stop ad profits. Reddit will revert. Just. Stop. Moderating.
Let it fill up with nudes and hate speech and then sure, let's have Reddit forcibly remove you. They'll pull in a new team of mods but if they're just picked out of the blue, they're unlikely to find the time and energy necessary to do it well because this takes passion and many teams were assembled carefully over time with votes and selection processes for a reason. It's often a team effort of passionate people. Moderating poorly risks putting the subreddit on collision course with the community but hey that is Spez and gang's problem, not yours.
I don't think there is any other language that Reddit understands than this. Mods -- take a breather and see what the world has to offer. It's not just all about Reddit.

Update from Lemmy after the Reddit blackout (From the Lemmy Developer)
Pledged on their $5/month tier on their Patreon page now. That's the least I can do given what I understand they're going through right now. :D

Six verified Reddit employees discussing the current atmosphere at the company. Featuring "First the company needs to get rid of Steve", "It's garbage", and actively hoping to be laid off
Maybe they could run a convoy of vehicles to Steve’s home and threaten him with destruction if there is no leadership change and see how that goes.

The German Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament has ditched X (Twitter) in favour of open-source decentralised Mastodon
The EU itself also has a Mastodon instance with the funny, overly clear name of https://social.network.europa.eu/
But only the institutions of EU, not for EU residents.
I like this idea because it becomes very easy to verify authenticity especially now that verification badges on X is just subscription badges without verification. You simply set up a subdomain of the form social.country.tld (much like the German parliament did) and you'll know [email protected] is an authentic representative for a political party or whatever. No money involved other than running the instance, which will be a tiny cost for something as niche as one offering a voice for the parliament alone.
So I hope this takes off even more around the world. It is certainly a more democratic way to do social than paying some dude in America that runs his personal garden to have badges.

Leaked Email Shows Elon Musk Demanding "Sub 10 Micron Accuracy” Cybertruck Parts
I know it's supposed to make them sound good and might indeed be meant for leaking, but all I can think of is the demands on quality assurance and risks of failures down the road if such precision is paramount for the operation of the vehicle and assumed by the teams building it.
So give me a less finicky vehicle, please, and leave that precision for devices not subject to highly varying road conditions at very high speeds and housing people.

Do you think the guys on the titanic submarine will be rescued?
From what I've heard by experts, no. That chance is now extremely slim. Basically they then need to be found on the water surface. It's a complex logistical challenge to lift a submersible at these incredible depth. I think certainly not done over a day or two even working around the clock.
And what's worse now is they've apparently heard banging noises which indicates they are submerged. :-(

the API changes occur tomorrow, gentlemen, it's been an honor (inb4 Lemmy completely crashes)

That would be very nice if true. Let's not have karma. I've never missed it and forgot it was even a thing. I only see downsides overshadowing any upsides ("fun to know"?) with it. Even "trusted account" uses don't work because karma promotes botting.

What usenet server do you use?

The main feature is that you’ll never have problem with too few or no seeders again, and everything will be fast always, and no one will ask or expect you to seed. Some have retention period on the content for like a decade.

Mates, today without warning, the reddit royal navy attacked. I've been demoded by the admins.
LMAO and these guys wanting to reopen /r/piracy are awaiting IPO. Any investor not seeing the issues at hand here deserve all the misfortune they'll get.

‘Hell on earth’: Phoenix’s extreme heatwave tests the limits of survival
Why is migration not happening on a larger scale yet? I thought world at large would be more chaotic than now. People are just this stubborn? Every summer they’ll now literally risk dying.

It's so crazy how mods find it that important to re-open within a week. I mean. Why? Why even do it fairly soon? They don't see a penny by running the subreddits themselves.

[Done] New try at upgrading to 0.18.1 July 1st 20:00 CET
Good luck! 🍀
I’m going to begin supporting this instance on Patreon starting this month, I guess symbolic of the changing times and server demands.

I think most who want NSFW in their feed simply subscribe to things from here https://lemmynsfw.com/
It's an instance only about NSFW. Elsewhere it is rare, yes. I think that's honestly good for Lemmy.world and others. Even if OP's suggestion on image hosts is good, if it blows up I expect a ton of people will begin uploading 4K porn directly on the instance.
So, anyway, as usual with subscribing from another instance, you go here and search for [email protected] if what you need is more boobs, then subsribe to that and voila it's as if it was here on lemmy.world.

I say stay strong and refuse. I can't see a single benefit outweighing the disadvantages and in particular botting to game that flawed system.

r/tattoo is now a fanpage for t.A.T.u.
I thought they were so hot at the time. Well, of course, that was like 95% of what the point was with the band so mission accomplished I guess. To celebrate the downfall of Reddit, here's Ne Ver Ne Boysia Ne Prosi of Eurovision 2003. A different age, when Russia was actually seen as pretty OK. It's too bad what has become of Russia because I think their language lends itself well to music. :) Imagine what could have been, a beautiful country stretching through Siberia.

"Russia's security forces are reported to be in disarray following the attempted mutiny by the Wagner Group." - Long update that is bonkers inside
It's a quite scary situation in case Wagner actually gains control. They are no better than Putin and may in fact be worse. No one I want to be in control of nuclear stock piles.
I think the best situation would be if Putin manages remaining in control but with such a weakened state that the Ukraine war is unfeasible for national security reasons, and war fatigue completely takes them so that keeping up with this shit is political suicide.
I mean, Wagner is just angry that they can't kill Ukrainians as efficiently as they want and that the Russian military is shit, having them do all the dirty work. Remember this. That's why they want the command replaced.
