I have a similar story to share.
When I was in my early 20s I briefly dated a girl who told me she was having feelings for another woman and was being curious, she eventually broke up with me in order to be with her, but we remained good friends after that.
Eventually she came out as a lesbian and when I told her that I was bi she immediately ended our friendship all even yelled some slurs at me.
AFAIK she's married with a guy and has kids now

I absolute despise when people dismiss some videogames as a boomer thing. Boomers did not play videogames (in general), as a matter of fact, most of them hated them.

Interview via MS Teams? How about NO.
I had a job interview for a Senior Linux Engineer, the interview was via MS Teams, I mentioned that MS Teams does not have Linux support (at the time) and requested to have the interview over any other service. They replied asking me to use Windows for the interview, as that was the OS my work laptop would use. I politely replied that I was no longer interested.

I’m watching people in my industry (software development) who’ve bought into this crap forget how to code in real-time while they’re producing the shittiest garbage I’ve laid eyes on as a developer.
I just spent two days fixing multiple bugs introduced by some AI made changes, the person who submitted them, a senior developer, had no idea what the code was doing, he just prompted some words into Claude and submitted it without checking if it even worked, then it was "reviewed" and blindly approved by another coworker who, in his words, "if the AI made it, then it should be alright"

Sharpening is a simple convolution, doesn't even count as ML.
I really hate that everything gets the AI label nowadays

Music Piracy Is Back, Baby
One of the main reasons I still pay for Spotify is because it is very cheap in my country, specially when splitting a family plan. However I noticed that the user experience has gone downhill over the past years.
I remember when I could seamlessly switch playback devices, from my car to my phone, to my computer and them a Chromecast almost instantaneously. Now I'm lucky if my devices recognise each other even if they are on the same network.
And if you have a poor internet connection, the app is near unusable because it tries yo grab online content first before checking whatever is downloaded. Time and time again I have to put my phone on aeroplane mode just for the main menu to load, it is so frustrating and this didn't happen some 5-6 years ago

Report: Microsoft to face antitrust case over Teams
Reply in thread
Teams also sets itself to autostart with Windows, even if you choose not to, or diabale it from the startup manager, it overrides it upon next launch.
It's the only software I've ever seen doing that crime against humanity.

What were you wrong about for a long time? How did you realize you were wrong?
As a non American who has never been to the US, but grew up well within its sphere of cultural influence.
I thought that about half of the population was black, maybe 40% minimum. I was surprised to learn that it was just above 10% in reality.

Wasn't there a guy at Google that claimed that they had a conscious AGI, and his proof was him asking the chatbot if it was conscious, and the answer was "yes".
