Medical experts shocked by Tennessee team’s ‘malpractice’ in Christa Pike’s failed execution

Reply in thread

The drugs stopped being produced in 2011. So what remains has expired at this point.

So even if we consider they have stocks, those meds will not work as intended.

Expired meds can have a lot of differences. Sometimes they are fine for years after expiration. Sometimes they become less effective. Sometimes they have wildly different effects and interactions and the medication breaks down.

Wolves roam into Finnish villages after Google destroys 1,300 acres of forest for AI data centers — forest where wolf packs used to live is now an expanse of mud

To be fair, on paper...

  1. Sell land for millions.
  2. Google applies for building permits.
  3. Deny permits because of environmental impact.

The odds of them completely ignoring step 2 are honestly pretty slim. Building permits are still necessary even if you're planning on ignoring things like the environmental stuff.

More Tennessee voters report voting machine showing wrong name selected

There are other ways to mess with the counts that aren't going to be visible to the person as they make selections. Like having it show whatever they're selecting properly, then just printing different selections at the end. Not everyone is going to verify the printed copy shows what they selected, and already confirmed on the machine once.

Making it jump around on screen isn't discreet at all, and it's not the easiest way to try and interfere. Poorly calibrated touchscreens, and a user interface with inadequate spacing between options are much more likely reasons.

We're used to using devices that companies spend a lot of time designing the User Experience on. Voting machines are a very niche industry, with virtually no consumer backlash for a shitty experience because the voter has no direct control, and the government isn't going to be using that interface to handle things like counts at the end.

Republican Mayor Physically Charges at Resident as He Loses It

If corporations can make decisions which directly lead to the deaths of others then those impacted by those decisions should be able to respond in self defense.

Especially when they have policies to automatically deny claims, require appeals, etc. regardless of whether things should actually be covered. That's an explicit decision by the company to put those people's lives in danger, solely for the financial incentive.

Perhaps we need to add that to the murder definition.

The machine allows a digital recording that can be tabulated faster than physically counting the paper ballots.

The paper ballots should still be the official votes and counts, but the machine means faster preliminary results.

Digital-only voting is an issue because there is no backup paper trail, and could easily be compromised without any visible indication.

There is no reason for the voting machine to know a name or display anything identifying. You should be verified separately before getting close to a machine to vote. It should be as dumb as possible. Only tabulating your selections and printing the result for you to verify then drop into the official box.

No one should ever take anything they don't personally know to be 100% accurate, as truth.

Everyone lies. Especially on the internet.

But not utilizing tools that are available, even if they are flawed, is just stupid. They still give you additional data points to form a more educated perspective.
