So, I'm sure, he was arrested (just like anyone else would be) & will resign.
Since it's obviously a pattern for him.
Right?
RIGHT?
More evidence of the brain damage caused in the elderly from Covid and social media

I didn't know mayoral votes were party related. I guess that party shit is invasive just like zebra mussels and advertising.
I'm pretty sure it changes state by state. Some, like mine, have political associations ever for posts like mayor, and others have nominally non-partisan races for mayor.
Gotta pick one, chief.
100% pure, concentrated, conservative logic right there.
Conservatives are obsessed with anti-heroes who "do what needs to be done" even when it's illegal and morally odious.
They believe in end justify the means but can't even describe or even imagine what is this "end". End of the american empire?
Absolute individualist power fantasy. Same with shooting someone in self defense
Most normal folk would prefer not to get mugged at all.
Its Cognitive Dissonance 101. The psychological defense mechanism. To these people, if one part of them is wrong, then their entire identity is wrong.
The pattern is becoming more apparent amongst authoritarians, they have a very disturbed sense of identity. They identify as the party. They identify as the country. They identify as being correct.
Not in America. There's plenty of people that will tell you murder is wrong, but in the same breath tell you state-sanctioned murder is justified.
In fact, I'd wager most people, including myself, hold logically inconsistent beliefs. Logically consistent systems are either incomplete (per Godel) or impotent (like Presburger Arithmetic).
I really wish there was a universal moral calculus, but I haven't found one.
Luigi
It was wrong... but I definitely understand. ^And wouldn't convict.^
It wasn't wrong.
Personally I'm not necessarily against murder, gotta judge it by a case by case basis but I don't think the state should do it 9 times out of 10.
That's an easy one to defeat. Just depends on how you define murder. Like no sane person would balk at killing someone in unequivocal self-defense. I would exclude that kind of act from the definition of murder. That gets dicey when you take something like Luigi. Can outright murder be acceptable given a failing system? No one is considering murdering healthcare execs in places with universal healthcare.
If corporations can make decisions which directly lead to the deaths of others then those impacted by those decisions should be able to respond in self defense. The fact that they're killing people with a pen stroke instead of a weapon doesn't change the life-threatening nature of the situation they're intentionally creating.
Especially when they have policies to automatically deny claims, require appeals, etc. regardless of whether things should actually be covered. That's an explicit decision by the company to put those people's lives in danger, solely for the financial incentive.
Perhaps we need to add that to the murder definition.
I was thinking more along the lines of people lynching David Duke or Steven Anderson, A hate preacher associated with the quiverfull freaks. But also generally speaking C-suites and politicians as well.
The way I see it there's no point in offering civility to those who would kill me for fun or a quick buck.
Violence, possibly even lethal violence, can be justified. But, it can't be justified by revenge or convenience.
Alright, so, off straight to jail with that very clear confession.
... right?
Right?
Jersey Rules
There are such things as mitigating circumstances, but those are supposed to be considered in a COURT OF LAW by a JUDGE. Not by self decree.
Am I a hostile dumb piece of shit? Absolutely. Do I not understand consequences and does God weep anytime I open my fat mouth? Absolutely.
Motherfucker, don't attack my country! Fuck you and the entire fascist GOP!
According to the other guy he didn't even talk to the mayor's family. He just turned around and gestured at them to shut up when they started talking shit at him.
Dude has statistically assaulted his daughter. Let's look into that cause I can almost guarantee it.
well the left made him do it. so the violence is their fault. obvious, really.
"Why do you make me hit you, baby?!"
WHY DID YOU MAKE DO THIS?! YOU'RE FIGHTING SO YOU CAN WATCH EVERYONE
ON THIS PLANETAROUND YOU DIE! THINK MARK! YOU'LLOUTLIVEOUTLAST EVERY FRAGILE, INSIGNIFICANT BEING ON THIS PLANET! YOU'LL LIVE TOWATCHSEETHEMTHIS WORLD CRUMBLE TO DUST AND BLOW AWAY! EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING YOULOVEKNOW WILL BE GONE!What a lead-brained boomer fat piece of shit lol.
In watching the video, mayor says he's not gonna hit anybody. Video sure showed us something else. Is the mayor intentionally lying, or is he genuinely that out of touch with his own actions?
I think he said “get”, because he was yelling “I’m gonna get you” as he was being dragged away. AKA making death threats, which is a felony. He is trying to create plausible deniability for the death threats by jumping in front of a news camera, before any charges get filed.
Calling that a death threat is a stretch that would not hold up in court in my jurisdiction. It lacks specificity
I think the victim is correct that it qualifies as simple assault
Why would a republican mayor ever intentionally lie?
Aww man, I misread "resident" as "President" and got all excited for a moment
Seeing this while I'm listening the "No Gods No Mayors" podcast is (chef's kiss) beautiful... I love it when a mayor is embattled.
I like my mayors like I like my coffee: embattled
So worth remembering that incident of politican harassment has gone up by about 50% irrespective of party in the last 3 years federally. Also true across the board in the US.
I am not justify the acts, but putting this in context.
it's obvious, but the system isn't responding to, connecting with, or improving constituents lives. Or the constituents have become less tolerant of not being listened to... even if the message are mixed.
And of course the media is not helping. Telling the whole story is important, not just a perspective.
Edit: Down voting me doesn't make it any less true you absolutely stupid dumbasses. You want to make the world a better place, be willing to deal with the complex truth that is the dn world!
How much do you want to bet that the federal definition of "politician harassment" has widened dramatically during those same 3 years?
Is it, though? According to who?
Correct, but it's AND, not or.
Even more correct
So the Capitol police attribute some of this to an increased detection, not a redefinition. But your point is still vaild, with a caveat. While the Federal threats have blossomed, it's not just them.
study after study after study after study shows an increase of politicians being abused, attacked, and harassed.
And it's global not just the US.
We live in a attention economy which doesn't want real answers, or real context. Whom ever sounds the best wins. The problem is that Nature doesn't take a side.
Okay, let's take a look at your sources here.
Let's just go over your first one:
The next figure states 42% of them were against elected officials. Okay, fair.
Okay, there's maybe some equal opportunity stuff here....
Hmmm.....wait, this doesn't seem like BoTh SiDeS here....
Me thinks you should maybe actually read the sources and get a actuall understanding the sources you're using to back up your claim that violent rhetoric on the rise is irrespective of a party or ideology here.
Irrespective of party? Surely you have a source for that since you stated such confident and specific statistics.
You say that like it's a bad thing?
The country could be a much better place if they feared us more.
How do you work when you fear for your life? Productively? Does Anxiety and Worry about your choices daily and the unintended consequences of them give you that coffee like jolt to work well?
Or... does it make you want to quit and let the assholes deal with the shitheads who don't give a f$&k?
Fear doesn't motivate well, nor does torture, pain, anxiety, etc. It causes people to make bad decisions.
Stop being ignorant you dumbasses.
Nah. They're too comfortable screwing us over. Too confident that nothing they do to us will come back to haunt them.
And if it gets too stressful? They're welcome to quit their jobs at any time.
