Conspiracies
It's never that I think they aren't evil enough, I just don't trust conspiracies that require too much competency. I think most of them are too dumb and uncoordinated to pull off most of the conspiracies I hear about.

Counties are blocking wind and solar across the US
The inability to install solar panels on my home is enshrined in my HOA and is extremely unlikely to be overturned by our members. We should be passing laws making these types of restrictions illegal

Do this if a church tells you how to vote
My local church puts out big signs in front telling you what to vote for. Regularly see cops attend that church. No one cares

Agreed. It's comical how he's seemingly able to rapidly build stuff that requires experience in multiple high end fields and then he even surrounds himself with his own tech and is not buried under maintenance hell for it all.
My alternative head canon is that he's actually only good at building AIs and Jarvis and Friday are the ones who actually make all of his crazy ideas work.

Is anyone else getting a bit of schadenfreude from the news each day?
I'm struggling to believe these articles are anything but pandering to the left. I struggle to believe there's any significant number of conservatives actually having real second thoughts.
I mean during COVID you had conservatives literally claiming COVID was no big deal as they died. I think that was when I understood just how far gone these people could be. They will happily drink the Kool aid no matter the personal cost to themselves.
So losing their jobs is questionable as to whether or not it's going to actually result in a different mindset, rather than some fleeting complaints that are forgotten by the next election cycle.

Turns out most of the US government relied on norms, traditions, and basic human decency, but very little of it was actually codified into law. Which in this day and age is like having no rules at all since no one has any shame anymore

Pretty sure since it's a layoff they'll argue it wasn't specifically targeted as a form of discrimination. America is full of things that feel like they should be illegal, but aren't.
Like how my state has absolutely zero laws enforcing access to bathroom or food breaks at work. Totally baffling.

How many people actually dropped Reddit for Lemmy?

Lemmy has been a decent replacement for /r/all browsing, but it's not at all a replacement for most of the subreddits I was actually subscribed to

Now you've got teachers and students fighting over whether or not their paper was written by AI, so students need to jump through hoops trying to prove (or convincingly lie) that they didn't use AI to write. Which can mean writing in weird ways that don't 'feel' like AI.

Religious parents
I really don't understand how people who are reasonably devout followers of different religions ever end up together. Almost all of them make it against the rules or at least extremely problematic. Why would you marry someone that your religion says is going to hell because they don't believe what you do? And if you do it anyway, why would you stay in that religion? Makes no sense.

Look I get it, I also wanted someone different than Biden in 2020. But I truly don't think it's sane political strategy to run a different democratic candidate when you already have a sitting democratic president who's able to run for another term. The loss of the incumbent advantage is way higher than any benefit a new candidate would bring (from a voter turnout perspective, not a policy one). People would be rightly furious if the Democrats ran a new guy only to lose to trump based on name recognition alone.

Why is there not an equally opposing force to Project 2025?
Reply in thread
Because the lefties are essentially a loose coalition of every marginally sane political view that remains, containing the actual fiscal conservatives, the center, the progressives and the far left all in a single party.

Crunchyroll
Honestly kind of bold of them, given that anime watchers tend to be extremely familiar with piracy and it was only the efforts of Crunchyroll and other easy to use services that finally managed to make legal anime a reasonable option. They aren't so entrenched that people won't go right back to pirating again.
