In Iraq rhey have cigs with two different flavor capsules in the filter, it was a novelty. I do remember carrying crushes at bars, in case you met someone who liked menthols. I'm glad I quit, but it was fun at the time.

On D day the USS Texas couldn't physically elevate the guns any higher in their mounts to lob the shells at German positions as they retreated further from the ocean. So they intentionally took on water on one side of the ship, elevating the other side, and enabling the guns to shoot further.

Vision Pro Teardown—Why Those Fake Eyes Look So Weird
The example video of showing wearing the headset and showing the outer display:

It is off putting and reminds me of one of the Robocop 2 Prototypes.

Anon starts to believe
I grew up on an American farm and I cannot comprehend the suburbs. Grass just grows, it was there before developers bull dozed whatever forest / farm / wetland was already there to install impossible to walk cul-de-sacs everywhere. Less massive yards and more public parks would be better for everyone.

Dude sounds like he had normal human values, then he got some power as a politician and now he is just living a persona to appease certain people. I still can't believe he is a Marine.

Guess I'll just have to hang out with humans in the physical world.

Vehicle fuel economy is regulated for all new vehicles in the US. There is a curve that as the vehicle gets bigger, the less fuel efficient it needs to be. So cars in the US will continue to get bigger because it is cheaper than making them more fuel efficient.

Ukraine said it captured a Russian position using only ground robots and drones, no infantry, for the first time
Western Infantry officers will be in shambles if this could be repeated again and again. It has to be tough killing one UGV while quad copters are overhead let alone dozens of them rolling up.

Project Helix, the next XBOX console, is not expected to feature a disc drive
As someome in the military, the console used to be the perfect device to recieve new media while you were deployed somewhere with no internet. Video games, movies, and albums used to all come on dicscs a console could read and play on the spot. The internet has created an environment where companies no longer ship a finished product on the disc, and relying on a world where all consumers have high speed internet. It has also pushed individuals that wont have internet for months at a time towards piracy. This also hurts research scientists / students out in places with poor internet service. I fully support companies that send their finished product out on some sort of physical medium that can operate as intended without a software update over the internet. Anything else is just a license key and should be clearly marked as such.

Why do Lemmy users rarely use emoticons?
Everything after ascii art was a mistake. It feels childish to use emoticons, a lot of users here grew up on platforms that only had text and to see emoticons is jarring. Needing to use an image for emotional context is poor writing.

The same fallacy of someone buying a $200 android, complaining it sucks, then getting a $700 IPhone, to confirm in their mind that all androids are cheap crap. Ignorant consumers are gonna ignorantly consume.
