Plex’s crackdown on free remote streaming access starts this week - Ars Technica
Reply in thread
Probably not the only one, but configuring your server for outside access is way easier with Plex.
Since I mainly use these services for streaming my music collection (long time cd collector), I declare that Plexamp is simply superior to jellyfin. It is really awesome and feature-rich and jellyfin does not even come close to Plexamp regarding music in my opinion.

I don’t want to argue if AI is good or bad.
I am using social media to read stuff from other human beings. I am not dumb and I can prompt LLMs myself if I have the need to.

Is it "safe" to use an own domain for Mails?
Reply in thread
thanks for the info. i am planning to use my own domain with an mail provider instead of self-hosting an email server. Reason beeing that in case i want to change my mail provider, i just move my domain to a new service provider instead of having to change my mail adress everywhere.

Perfection is the enemy of good.
Most consumerism is problematic and you can blame most people for something, just take your time and you will find something: Are you drinking milk? Are you eating meat? Do you drink beer or smoke cigarettes? Do you use Social Networks like Instagram, Facebook or TikTok? Do you buy stuff on Amazon? Do you use ChatGPT? Do you drive a car even though you could travel by foot, train, bus or bike? Do you watch soccer? Do you watch porn? Congratulations, you are probably supporting something shitty.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to change things. But offending people for doing some of these things never helped. It often just achieves the opposite. Try to encourage others, show them alternatives. Etc.

This is more of a general answer and not specifically about Hogwarts Legacy:
I mean, if I want to play a game now I don’t wait for years for the possibility that it becomes free for a week (and the chance that I don’t miss the giveaway). And if I have a steam deck, I maybe still want to own it on steam.

Plex Announces Massive Price Hike on Lifetime Subscription Plans

Plexamp is just far superior for music. It doesn’t even come close sadly … since I only use it for my music collection I simply prefer Plex … but only because I got lifetime a long time ago for 60 bucks or something …

I mean, IF they also add internal storage for mp3 files and it would act as an oldschool mp3-player/ipod, that would be actually cool … but I don’t need another display … you already have one on your phone and maybe also on your wrist

Nintendo is Bringing Us Kicking and Screaming Into the $80 Game Era with the Switch 2
Reply in thread
If you don’t need the latest and greatest games and can wait a bit, you get a shit-ton of games on PC (including AAA Games) for la few bucks. Have a look at Humble Choice for example, Steam Sales, Bundles, other legit/official key retailers etc. I mean, fuck Epic but one could solely feed his gaming needs with all the free games they give away constantly.
Nintendo on the other hand: I remember that I bought a switch with Zelda BotK … sold it later on … years later I bought a second hand switch … a lot of time has passed … I wanted to play Zelda again … Zelda BotK did cost the same everywhere as on launch day … only good thing is the cartridge resale value was also always good for first-party Nintendo games.
