Anon loves One Piece

I used to read shonen jump when I was a child and I remember reading the debut of the English translation when it came out. I fell off anime and didn't start watching it again until a few years ago.

My mind was fucking blown that they were still making new episodes. It wasn't even a spin off, it's the same show.

Eta: when I say "child" I meant I was 8 or 9. I turned 30 last month.

Newest "anti-woke" tantrum: Right-wingers don't think kids of different races can be friends

Reply in thread

Most right-leaning individuals are not racist homophobic dick-wads, they’re not waving the confederate flag, and they don’t want to vote for Trump or Desantis or whatever degenerate asshole is up on that podium next.

That has not been the impression they give me when I've had disagreements with the right wing people who I know. If you bring up any of the horrible shit the people they support do, they'll just shrug and say "well, I can't vote for x, they're a Democrat. It's not really a big deal anyways"

I'm also curious what you think racism is. I know a lot of racist Democrats, too.

Go out there and meet some people. We’re all humans and it would be a lot easier to solve our problems if we were in this together.

I think this is naive. That sentiment is collectivistic. Right wing politics is vehemetly individualistic. They'd just call you a communist and ignore anything you'd have to say. They don't want to solve problems, they want only their problems to be solved.

I'm trans and asexual. It would be insane for me to take a stance against people having sex. I don't enjoy it and the machinations surrounding it confuses me. However, I don't care that people have sex even though I don't understand it.

Turns out a lot of Americans don't love freedom. They love only their freedom, which is corrupted in my opinion.

Eta: "I'm having trouble thinking of anything more free than waking up a man and going to sleep a woman."

I didn't read this correctly the first time and now I'm moved. That happened to me, it did feel like I was set free.

All Rome leads to roads

I wouldn't be terribly surprised. I grew up in Geneva, but I lived in Oviedo when I was in high school.

I've lived in central Florida my entire life.

When I was starting at a new job I mentioned that I grew up in Geneva. The person I was chatting with were curious and asked what it was like growing up in Europe. I responded that if I was raised in Europe I'd never live in Florida. Geneva, FL is a fucking armpit.

Leaked Email Shows Elon Musk Demanding "Sub 10 Micron Accuracy” Cybertruck Parts

Reply in thread

Eh, not saying starlink isn't good, but it's not exactly novel. It didn't take a genius to come up with the idea, which I very much doubt musk did, but the work that needed to be done and the service provided is impressive.

Musk did very little in that effort beyond paying the bill. I don't really think that's something to be commended for. Bill Gates could've paid for it and the result would have been identical.

Bigger doesn't mean safer. About 10 years ago I drove an 06 Corolla. I got rear ended at a stoplight by an SUV going ~40 mph. Their car was totaled. The rear body of my car was kinda mangled, but completely drivable. The driver of the other car broke their wrist and had their airbags deployed. I just got my knuckles a little scraped on my dashboard.

I drive an 08 Corolla these days.

Animals

Reply in thread

I'd like to add that domesticated animals that are taboo to eat typically had a use beyond just eating them.

Dogs guard your property, cats kill pests, horses do work and transportation. You'd only eat those if you were desperate.

Chickens, pigs, and cows? Not so much. The only one of those I could think with an alternate use would be a truffle pig, which wouldn't be eaten.
