Student pilot successfully lands plane after instructor jumps to death mid-flight
I don’t think Bertazzo died “mid-flight”

Are you ready for what it takes to stop ghost guns? New laws in California and New York might stop anyone from 3D printing guns — and create entirely new kinds of surveillance.

It won’t stop anyone buying or importing innocuous machinery parts like 2020 aluminium extrusions or GT2 belts either. There are mature generic 3D printer designs out there that outperforms RepRap i3 bedslingers.

The Ghost Gun Crackdown Is Quietly Threatening the Future of 3D Printing
I find it quite hard to believe it would be able to detect innocuous, dual-use, off the shelf components spread out over a dozen prints.
Even US export controls can’t prevent that, only delay and cause irritation.

A $50 computer just flew Russia’s newest jet drone into a Ukrainian grain ship—and jamming couldn’t stop it
If you impose export controls on the BCM2837 (core used by Raspberry Pi 3), you’ll just get drop-in Chinese replacements like AllWinner H616 and RockChip RK3288.
It’s not that likely they’re using Pi 4 or Pi 5 SoCs because there’s a supply crunch there (28nm and 16nm respectively and both use LPDDR4) and there’s plenty of BCM2835-BCM2837 in old stock + they use a 40nm process that’s much less crowded than the current SoC silicon market.
Anything older than BCM2837 in the Pi lineup would not have enough performance for MV.
