What is an event that changed how you view the world?
2016 US elections was a ridiculously sobering moment for realizing that we had not progressed nearly to the extent that I nievely thought.

Parents Should Pay Higher Taxes
Unpopular as advertised, sure. But man, what an absolute weapons-grade bad take, with beginning to end poor reasoning.

YouTube is slowing down for users with ad blockers in new wave
So I have YouTube premium but also have ad-blocker, for the first time yesterday I was noticing absolutely abysmal speeds on YouTube and I suspect this is why. I thought my computer was starting to shit the bed initially it was so brutal.

'Influencer fatigue' is real and young people are getting tired of it
Probably an old man yelling at cloud sentiment, but I hated them from the very beginning.

White dude here. It's super easy to read something like this without feeling disenfranchised or bullied. Sure we can do better to avoid it, but that should not at all be the main takeaway from this testimonial. Why aren't you angry at the common propensity for women in places of academic and professional authority being looked down upon and disrespected like this? This is super common.

Check out our new "KDE for Gamers" guide.
Awesome stuff. A nitpick I have about the page though is that if it's meant to be a highlight real of the properties of KDE that appeal to gamers, the section on classic games shouldn't be an exhaustive list, and might instead be a summary with some examples followed by a link to the larger catalog.

+1 for the third party Reddit app ban.

Be the change you want to see in this world, don't let Thomas Edison continue to shit on everything from his grave.

Where's Our Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Review? (IGN denied review code)
Yeah this is never a good sign.
That being said, perhaps because I got into a couple.of their podcasts, but I like a bunch of people at IGN. How come you're not a fan?

This is a daunting proposition, I'm admittedly massively invested in Google's ecosystem. Gmail and Google calendar, I have a pixel phone, watch and buds and have YouTube premium. I feel like the time I switch is when I have a homelab and am able to find open source alternatives to everything heavily use and be able to do so with all devices I use.

I'm genuinely surprised I haven't seen a troll on Lemmy until now.
Now it's beginning to feel a bit more like Reddit.

Im still undecided about if it looks fun though
I have yet to have a solid informed grasp of whether Palworld manifested their sources of inspiration in good faith, but my tentative opinion at the moment is that hopefully this presses the Pokemon Company to innovate and elevate their overall game. The switch generation to me represented a generation of mismanagement and obvious management generated timelines and barriers, which is super unfortunate for Pokemon's transition to a console.
Competition hopefully might change that.

Split second is the horror movie I saw way too early in my life. I can't remember the circumstances but I may have been 4-5 seeing a particularly scary scene in the basement of my grandparents house.
Descent would have fucked me up, the claustrophobia messed with me seeing it as an adult.

Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?
Play whatever you want, I doubt you're getting weird looks for playing anything in public.
I personally despise the mobile gaming industry as a whole for its propensity for going live service or shovelware in the vast majority of instances. Of course I can think of gems in the rough but in many cases it went for a business model I ended being disappointed in.
At the end of the day, the switch and steam deck are far preferable on the go gaming platforms that suit me much better.

I can't remember what video I watched that talked about the unsustainabilty and likely the late stages of an ad revenue driven internet content model, and this situation reeks of that.
I don't know what new paradigm might replace it if this is the case, but the current model feels like it's absolutely failing.
