Risk of major disruption as UPS strike looms in US
Reply in thread
Agreed. Do you think it would help the cause if we all ordered as many as we can of the smallest cheapest things that we can get UPS delivered? Put the pressure on by flooding them with orders they can't meet if there's a strike?

Rule 1
That's why I moved to where it's regularly 10-15 degrees cooler than I like. And I'm buying more land further north from there. Gotta lead it.

I think it's for me. I occasionally need regular expressions, like any career programmer. I also hate regular expressions. I have to complely relearn the every time I use them.

You know ChromeOS is Linux, right? It's super easy to put a different distro on. You're totally up for it, a few hours max and you're good to go.

I love anchor steam. I can't decide if its actually good, or if it's just nostalgia. The beer kinda tastes bad, but like, charmingly bad? Like sucking on pennies.

Terry Pratchett's Boot Theory
There's a simpler saying: "you cannot afford to buy cheap things".
It's an effective way to climb out of poverty of you're making ends meat, so long as you're in a position where your things won't be stolen. Save up to buy quality, or buy used quality things that last and can be repaired. It's a wise investment, cheap goods are part of the poverty trap.
I mostly wear a single pair of $350 boots. The cost per mile makes them the cheapest footwear I can buy. I've worn them daily for 2 years, they have maybe one more year before they need a resole. Boots are only a single example. It's the same for everything from clothing to cars to houses to electronics.
