The Jewish people live on stolen land. Remind me what happened on May 14, 1948. This isn't some ancient claim. It was a bait and switch by England. Benny is just getting old and deciding like all the old boomers that he's going to solidify some legacy and die off unaccountable.

Do you think that Edward Snowden is a hero?
I struggle with it. I know he needs an international ally to protect him, but running to Russia and having nothing to say about their bullshit comes across sour to me. I'm thankful, at least, for the information he provided.

Internet forums are disappearing because now everything is Reddit and Discord. And that's worrying.
This is unironically on reddit right now. People lamenting a place like Lemmy doesn't exist.
I'm less worried about Discord, honestly.

I'm assuming they are just spinning up new Android VMs to install the app on so it looks like a first time install and eligible for some free nuggets promotional.

There’s No Coming Back From Trump’s Tariff Disaster | America was the world’s economic anchor. Thanks to the president, it may never have that role again.
Americans no longer have the resolve to be world police, if it was right to do so in the first place. Unfortunately, that vacuum looks like it will be filled by a modern nation conducting ethnic cleansing within their borders and maybe using prisoners for organs.

Mastodon’s founder cedes control, refuses to become next Musk or Zuckerberg
I'm not sure what the practicals of doing something like this will be, but it speaks a lot to who Eugen Rochko is.
He might also be an obtuse dick. I've gotten that vibe too. Still, good for him.

Judging by all the downvotes, you'd think they'd get the hint lol
How fucking hard would it be to spin up a Lemmy instance, you know? Conservatives too fucking stupid to buy hosting and run an install package lol

Men need to better communicate their domestic desires in sexual pantomime. Like, do a humping gesture but then do a baby rocking gesture then pretend you're playing catch outside. "I'm trying to make a Little Leaguer here!"

SteamOS expands beyond Steam Deck
SteamOS is where I hang a LOT of faith now. Just, like, generally.
Here's hoping this is the beginning of a freer world from the personal technology standpoint.
I love my Steam Deck. I'm browsing the Fediverse on it right now. Desktop mode is a bit of that unpolished Linux experience you can get but it's really not bad at all. I mean, I fucking love it!

Funny, I'm actually more inclined to do it now.

Discord was talking about going public, probably changing their profit incentives. My group and I were talking about setting up a Rocket Chat if that happened. But it has to have IRC compatibility, right? Can IRC provide real-time audio communications? Discord is a failover when in-game communication isn't working for some reason.

Publishers are absolutely terrified "preserved video games would be used for recreational purposes," so the US copyright office has struck down a major effort for game preservation
Cool. Guess I'll leave you and them in the past.
All the best games are cool about providing software resources to players, mod abilities, self-hosting, so on. It's kind of like the Steam license thing. I love Steam but there's no way I'm starting Helldivers 2 or Destiny 2 up in ten years to play nostalgia. But Shattered Pixel Dungeon? Deep Rock Galactic? Valheim? Minecraft. I'll still be rocking those.

"Why can't the algo find me better content?"
Motherfucker, it's social media. You have to get social with people. Make a fucking friend, right?
Like, I fixed that shit by following George Takei and Mark Hamill and some reporters. The algo shouldn't be finding things for you. You should be finding people.
Yeah, scratching my head just the same. My only problem with Mastodon is the same I had with StumbleUpon. It's way too good about putting neat people and conversations in front of me and I feel bad not rising to the occasion more when I just want to deadbrain.

They were talking about SteamOS 2.0 being Debian and made for general hardware and SteamOS 3.0 being Arch based and really only meant for the Steam Deck, though it's unclear if there's drivers enough to put it on other hardware, but we're looking at Powered By SteamOS devices coming out. So, am I to take it that SteamOS 3.0 is implied to be capable of installing on alternate hardware now?
Like, I'm just going to stick with my Steam Deck but it's interesting to think you can make Steam Machines again.

I've come around myself. Centralized government allows those mutants a shot at an expanded Executive seat of power. Federation allows them to fester in their own state.
We can't forcibly save dumb white trash. We can just make Illinois, California, and New York capable of taking the refugees in.

My last view yesterday of the US; one-way ticket.
It hadn't really occurred to me to seriously ask where an American could leave to and become a citizen. I've got a degree in Information Systems and I work I.T., which I would think would be relatively valuable somewhere.

Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
I kind of wonder if Biden is setting him up to execute Luigi and get on the wrong side of this current populist movement.
