These shipping tape things
Cheap ones are s##t, worn out ones are also s##t. Adjusting the tension on the tape roller is a fine art as batch to batch the glue can change.
God I need to get out more !

[Likely solved] What are these devices?
Antenna for something with flat through window ribbon cables. Modern glass (with e coatings) block lots of signals including mobile data. Just by hanging my 4g mobile router out the window I got from 20-30Mbps down to over 90Mbps !
Not sure on the rock and roll, prob just a bit of fun for the receive and transmit ones.

Why do so many UK electrical sockets have an on/off switch next to them?
Being a uk person its cause they can & its also in to building / electric code. Its just a switch that breaks the live leg, stops sparking when plugging in stuff.

New homeowner, just sorta winging it...
Not sure on your location as from the picture it doesn't look like you're in the USA. However some places have restrictions on gathering water from your roof due to the materials used to clad the roof being poisonous. I would just double check that as I wouldn't want to consume any fruits or vegetables that have been grown in water that wasn't safe. I would also use a water butt or gatherer rather (totally covered from sun light) than hosing directly into a plant bed as if it's raining. The plants will already be getting watered from the rainwater so you want to store the rainwater for use later.

High NVMe usage with nohting running
Had this before for work on about 20 client PCs. Turned out there was a firmware issue with a load of disks that would peg the disk at 100% when doing nothing. It was really doing garbage collection but never ever finishes. A firmware update the drive and a windows defrag (it doesn't really do a defrag on a ssd, but they still use the same util) corrected the issue.

Why is OCR for handwritten content still that bad?
Try again on plain paper, or on lined/ruled paper. That dotted graph paper hurts my eyes and I'm pretty sure I'm mostly human...
