Let's look at a historical analogue. In the past Democrats were anti-gay marriage. I think Clinton only came around on it in like 2012 and Obama in like 2008 or something like that, who knows. But recently in the grand scheme of things. Can you imagine in like 2006 being like "well the Democrats and Republicans both don't support the gay community so I guess I'll just not vote"? But the Dems were the most likely to eventually come around, and enough people pushed them in that direction that they did the right thing. That's how politics works

Reading between the lines in the article, it's the more agreeable ones that are closing. Methodists, Episcopalians, Lutherans, to some extent Catholics. The ones that are thriving are your batshit insane Baptist, Evangelical, Pentecostal types. So don't get too excited from the headline, the worst of Christianity will always survive.

I'm not religious at all anymore but I lived a significant amount of time in the Bible Belt so you have to steel yourself against religious hypocrites or go insane. So IMO this is one of the good lessons in the Bible, for what it's worth.
