Actually, a lot of locks ARE the same. I lived in a brand-new complex years back, and everyone had the same lock and key. It didn't take long for some kids to start breaking into other people's houses, and since it was all under HOA owners couldn't just buy mismatched locks.

Then when I bought a 10 yr old home later, I was sitting at the house when some maintenance crew unlocked my door and walked right in. They tried to tell me I was squatting and it wasn't until they realized they were to do work on my neighbors house. Went and checked with other neighbors and found out a handful of us all had the same keys of about 4 varieties. Ironically, there were even two families that knew this before then and they told us how they bought new locks - and found out that those too were the same key.

So basically, if you buy a new lock, you should have it checked by a locksmith and rekeyed if needed.

Bought stove last March. Was cooking on it in Dec and the glass top melted. It's clearly melted and the glass is not cracked. Called it in, and they lost my claim. I sent another and they sent out their own specialist. The guy was a Samsung shill, and he only looked at the stove and, without talking to me as I'm standing there, called it in and said it was cosmetic damage caused by user. He then left telling me that my stoves warranty ran out 3 months after I bought it and that I had to call it in again to get their determination. I did, and they said the claim was closed out citing I caused the damage.

So, either Samsung thinks I took a blowtorch to it, or they refuse to perform a proper diagnostic or send an independent technician. They would prefer my house to burn down, than to admit even a little bit of fault. Worse still, I don't know what to do, because any action I take would get ignored (they haven't responded to bbb or states consumer protection reports and both have no legal authority to make them). Trying to repair it myself would allow them to push harder on user fault, and I don't have money to take legal action.

If that wasn't bad enough, my sister is going through the same thing with a dryer she bought that died 4 days before the warranty expired.

I'm not suggesting the following is standard, but the specific sound my car makes allows for people to not just hear the car, but to also know what direction the sound is coming from. The sound is engineered this way.

Compare this with those utility trucks that have those signature "reverse/backing up" (beep...beep...beep) sounds. You can hear it, but it's almost impossible to tell from what direction. It's been a complaint by blind people, and there's still worker incidents where they step into a moving path of a vehicle despite the sound.

You can even make sounds that work against this technique. Home audio systems use directional audio to give the effect of sounds being in certain locations. I wouldn't want people to be able to change a car sound to something that is more dangerous.

I know this sucks, but idk how to feel about it. I had a large collection of physical games, much like I'd imagine most gamers do, only to one day come home and find it all stolen. Insurance pulled the rug on me, and I didn't get much for any of it. Since then I've bought everything digital and, while I know it can happen, I haven't had any taken from me since. Of course, buying all the games physically would have been way more expensive as some of them are rare collectables now. I'm just happy I get to play them. I know I could lose it all again on a whim of some CEO, but I just feel there isn't any reasonable solution.

Make sure you guys keep receipts, take pictures, secure your games, and pay extra for any collectables insurance. And don't let insurance dictate the aggregate value lost, itemize everything and get quotes. You'll still get ripped off, but hopefully you can rebuild what's important if it happens to you.

It was also a relief of command, not a court martial, not non-judicial punishment, not a demotion or and not a punitive action.
