What's the current way to play games in HDR while keeping the Steam overlay working?

Reply in thread

Yea, it works pretty well. I've mostly used it for games, but firefox recently added support for HDR video and it seems to work with no issues. mpv I think has had HDR for quite a bit.
I'm not sure what RTX HDR does, as I only used an AMD card with my HDR display, but there are Reshade shaders that should implement something similar and there's RenoDX (a Reshade addon) which patches games to retrofit real HDR. mpv should have something similar, but I don't think there's anything for YouTube.

Edit: mpv's inverse tonemapping does work for YouTube videos, if you are OK with playing them outside the browser.

Cyberpunk 2077 released in December 2020. Almost 4 years later, what is your opinion on it?

I played it both at launch and a year ago with the DLC. It's alright - 6/10, but pre patches like 4/10.

The gameplay is fun because of how customizable your build is now, after the skill system was completely reworked.

The story is shallow, the characters forgettable and the open world really doesn't fit the urgency the story is supposed to have and ruins the pacing. The DLC is much better, but there's some parts where I don't really like how V is written, especially at the start, since it forces a specific personality I don't think fits them.

I remember the sidequests being generally entertaining, but I wouldn't call any of them special, just kinda average.

It feels a lot like a Far Cry game, but with much better build customization.

FYI (with slight spoilers): ::: spoiler spoiler not sure where you got the 5 times, but it's very incorrect: you play through the first part of the story twice, once with 2B, the second time with 9S with a couple of additional scenes. The second half of the game is made of entierly new events that happen after the first part. :::
