In the good old days they were carefree children that were shielded from the terrible things happening in the world.

And I will walk 500 miles and I will walk 500 more.
This map made me realize how small Great Britain really is. I drive 550 miles to visit my mom in the US, Great Britain is only 600 miles long from north to south.

Used RIF from 2015 until the very last day
Tomorrow I know my muscle memory will click the rif icon on my phone. Deleting rif just feels wrong to me.

What is your most embarrassing "ate the onion" moment?
I got pretty excited to see an advertisement for Hardee's mini biscuits and gravy. It was like tiny biscuits swimming in a bowl of gravy like cereal and it looked delicious . Then I realized it was April 1st.

Is it just me or do most of these post titles run off and I can't read the whole thing?

I'm afraid to watch the Princess Bride because everyone I know loves it and begs me to watch it and I'm afraid it will be terrible and when they ask me how it was I'll have to lie

What are your fondest Minecraft memories?
Playing in a world created by my boyfriend and his sons. We made a huge mine. I remember a cobblestone tower. Just in front of this was a small pool of water where I once died because of the bug that didn't allow you to swim up while taking damage. We started with a small wood house and eventually made a castle out of smooth stone. It had a library and a kitchen and 4 beds - One for each player. I didn't have an Xbox live account so when we played I was always logged in as a guest. Before leaving the game I'd remove all my armor and empty my inventory into a chest for the next time I joined.

That was my extent of interaction with Cortana as well. I prefer the Halo version of her.

Boost For Lemmy is happening
Never tried this app for reddit but I'm having fun exploring all the new Lemmy apps. Definitely going to give this a try once it is available!

Goodbye RIF
When I was first introduced to reddit in around 2008 or 2009, I found rif and thought it was the official app. I have used it ever since and it's the only way I knew reddit. Even using the reddit website felt weird. Now I can't imagine using reddit without it, so I have moved here to Lemmy and I'm trying out the app options. All are better than the official reddit app so far! I'll miss you rif 🫡

Haptic Feedback for swipe gestures
Agreed. Never quite sure if my upvote has actually registered unless I watch the upvote arrow change on the post.

I hate that the titles get cut off. This is what I see "TIL: There was a Stanford study that took low income stressed/anxious children and exposed them to distressing images such as car crashes and then pleasant images to determine that they have strong..."

Goodnight, RIF
Thank you for RIF. For years I thought it was the official app. I once tried reddits official app when it was released and it was a quick "nope" back to RIF. Thanks for the years of fun.

A new modern look for the Android brand
They call the droid a bugdroid? Interesting name choice as a software bug normally isn't a good thing.

Sorting by "top" is now implemented in 0.11.0!
Not sure if this is being considered, but if I open an image and then use the "back" gesture, it navigates the page behind the image backwards, instead of closing the image. I like you can swipe up to dismiss the image but it's like muscle memory for me to use the back gesture to get "back" to where I was. Love all the updates! My favorite app so far.

External link icon not visible against dark thumbnails
I wish the icon would indicate if it's a video vs a webpage or photo. Can't tell you how many times I click an image I think is just a webpage or image hosted elsewhere and I end up in YouTube. I'm not always in a place where I want a video to start playing.
