Hehe yeah, that is sort of what I meant. Gaming isn't what changed. Affordability changed.

Valve Says The Companies Making RAM Give Them A Price And If They Say No, They ‘Never Talk To Us Again’
Reply in thread
The ram in the system went from 200 dollars to 600 dollars. Not increasing the price of the console by 400 dollars would have meant scrapping it instead.
There is literally no choice, the ram would have been sold either way, just to someone else instead.

Simpsons created it. In the episode where jebediah springfields quote "a noble spirit embiggens the smallest man" is scrutinized for "embiggens" not being a word. They say it's a perfectly cromulent word. Which itself was not a word, but given the context has a clear meaning. And people decided to start using it as a joke, and then enough people used it, it eventually became real.
Technically all words work that way, but this feels just that little bit more artificial. There wasn't really a need for it, we have words for that context already, so it wouldn't have naturally spread. But it's still fun to have watched it happen over time, knowing it was probably gonna happen even though it shouldn't have.
Edit: the details may not be exactly right, it's been nigh-on 30 years now since I've seen that episode, but that's the gist of it, from what I recall.

TIL about Jambo a gorilla who protected a child who fell in the gorilla enclosure
Reply in thread
Ok, convince an entire crowd that they have nothing to fear and everything is ok and they can calm down. And do it quickly because the boy is being dragged around like a rag doll, which seems to be having the opposite effect.

I don't know what you trying to say should have been done. What else could have been done?

The trouble and difference with the Harambe situation is that he was disobeying his handlers and riled up by what he thought was a crowd angry at the kid(he likely wouldn't have thought the crowd was scared of what he might do, since he knew he was being helpful and didn't have presence of mind to consistently realise others might have different opinions than his own). So he wouldn't let go of the kid, and would have likely been defensive if handlers tried to come in and get the kid. He also was large enough that if they tranquilized him, he could have easily crushed the kid just by slowly passing out on him. They unfortunately had to take the only guarantee they had and shoot him at a moment when he was far enough from the kid that he wouldn't fall on him.
Harambe also didn't have any previous experience with taking care of kids, gorilla or otherwise. And believe me, that makes a huge difference. While the kid ended up mostly ok physically, he was dragged around by his ankle, through water and over rough terrain.
Nobody wants to kill a zoo animal. Especially not beloved ones. Especially not while they are trying to be nice.

Yet another name change for the Department of War is in the works
That's brave, walking around with exposed Trogdor tattoos around those guys. They seem like the type to pick on nerds.

Good luck, everybody
Clean your windshield, inside and out, and polarized sunglasses, or sunglass clips for glasses. And make sure any level of astigmatism you may have is known and corrected for.
If after washing your windshield, it still scatters the incoming light too much, it is probably pitted. You may have to consider replacing it. It is part of maintaining a vehicle. It may suck to be surprised with an expense like that, but the surprise expense of an avoidable accident is much worse. And might not only be expensive.

Disability campaigner unable to collect award on stage due to no ramp
"Despite a ramp being available, staff presumed Ms Landre didn't want one"
How is that just one throwaway sentence under one of the images and not explained in any more detail. What does that mean? How available? Why did they assume she wouldn't want it? Does she know a ramp was available?

One way to understand them better is to occasionally talk. Cuz like, guys and girls are actually incredibly similar. A couple of conversations a day, with the occasional really good conversation, can go a very long way towards understanding each other. Everything you don't talk about is one more thing you won't understand.

When talking to people who dislike UBI about UBI, they'll often say both that 'people need a purpose in life' and that 'nobody will work if they get free money'.
In trials, it has consistently boosted productivity. More people need it in order to be productive than the amount that choose to be less productive once they won't die from not being productive.
Also in trials, it has not costed more than current social programs in those areas. Clearing redundancies and red tape accounted for enough cost cuts to make UBI overall cost a similar amount or less than what all the various programs with all their various overhead costed all added together.

But hogwarts legacy is actually a really good game, the whole problem was that it might lead to jk rowling getting more money. Though they never did clarify if she got a cut or a flat fee that would have already been paid. Either way, this should nullify that, but the team that made the game did a great job, and made it more in-line with the spirit of the books instead of the author. Went specifically against her current wishes. The trans inclusion and positivity was pretty well done. Even if it was put in to spite her, they didn't draw attention to it, it just is there, and no one bats an eye.
Edit: I should mention that I played it in VR, I can't speak to what the game is like without VR. But I really enjoyed it. UEVR with a motion controls mod, there is also a voice casting mod, but I didn't personally go that route.

Sid Meier's Pirates, and everyone else in the game, are aware of the date...
That's awesome. Buncha nerds, hehe. I miss when games were made by a handful of friends, sure sometimes it meant they leaned a little too heavily on a mechanic that only played well in their opinion and stuff like that, the upsides were worth it though.

Our current strategy is making us worth a ton of money, so let's change strategies to what all the companies that are losing are doing instead, so we can make money?

Funny business
A wife massage with no funny business may often turn into a yes funny business massage, but only if the no funny business part goes well. And even then not always. But it's always a good idea to take the no funny business part seriously. The worst possible outcome is that she just has a better day instead.

This is every game for the people that skip dialog and cutscenes.
Now do a recap of a TV show, except skip all the parts where they aren't shooting a gun or stuff isn't exploding. I don't get that TV show, nothing had any context and there was no motivation or lessons to learn, stuff just randomly exploded from being shot at.

My disdain for mega banks knowns no end
2019, back in #avocadotoast days. When apparently we wasted our money on extravagances like "not the cheapest fruit/vegetables". Which wasn't even the case. We literally didn't even do that, we 100% had to eat the cheapest fruit/vegetable, if we were lucky enough that any fruit or vegetable met our budget. They were so out of touch that even their attempt to find a minor extravangance they thought we could afford to waste money on but shouldn't, was inaccessible.
