Found. | "lain: Protocol 7" Teaser Trailer
Someone familiar with OG Lain please enlighten me.
This is a snippet from project's site.
Technology is not the goal. It is a means of expression.
serial experiments lain also used cutting-edge digital expression for its time, and it caused both praise and criticism.
If, in 1998, people had feared new technology as “too early” or “wrong,” I do not think that work could have been born.
Where can I read more about this "praise and criticism"? Cause this seems to be one of the arguments for AI uses in production.

Rendering and Material Preview are two entirely different colours.
hiro8811 might be right about blue light object.
try this...
The light that loads when you start a new project. I just think of it as “the sun” because it not a directed light a spotlight.
The sun... IRL behave like a point light so you are technically correct XD
The "sun" type light is there so you don't have to move point light 149,597,870 km away from your scene center (you can't and it will break blender)

What on earth is a "porn farm"?
I dig the history of README.md and found this
Commit 9591fff Yuki2718 committed on Apr 2, 2022
#### Porn-farms
- Sites found to be porn-farms or part of porn-farms will not be addressed in uAssets.
+ Sites found to be porn-farms (families of mass-produced porn sites without any original contents) or part of porn-farms will not be addressed in uAssets.
there are later updates that changed wording until it become what you see now

It's so expensive to upgrade...
for AAA titles, installing and running them already feels like a burden. PC games use to ship on 700 MB CD and 4 GB DVD and I think it's insane to see more than 2 discs in a box. Developer have to save every triangle on the model and every MB of texture memory to work on limited resource. Now they just ship 8k full LOD and let UE handle the optimization part. Won't complain if it works good.
80 GB for one game is not ideal

yeah... about that bread...
It's quite rare that I felt betrayed by bread.
To be fair, it's on me buying it not knowing the word "melon" is for its appearance, not its content.

I love opensource because over the last 2 years using Blender, all bugs I submitted were worked on and resolved.
“There’s no point to report bugs”
My first report was in 2024 for 4.1 beta. I now have about 50 issues closed, a few of those are duplicate and known-issue. A few still open since 2024. And one tiny merged PR that puts undeserving "Contributor" label on all of my comments.
Back then I run daily build for the funsies and update every few days. I don't have to worry about getting things done and can spend time to reproduce bug, bisect from daily builds and narrow down to 24 hours period of commits that introduce the bug. I want to save time for devs/triage team so they can close/confirm the issue, look at it, fix it quickly and get back to do more important stuff.
Don't have that kind of luxury nowadays but I wish I can get back to my side project, dust it off and mess around with daily builds again. But no more of that PR shit, the repo is massive and setting up build environment is overwhelming.
I wish to donate in paper cash or other untraceable form, which is night impossible. So, putting in effort with bug reports is the best I can do for Blender.

Designers are experimenting with AI to make clothes and footwear more interactive
I'm so sick and tired of these "people" coming up with solution looking for a problem.
A cooling jacket is neat, but it's not a new idea. Seeing behind my back is also nice but... idk, can't you just strap LIDAR to a hard hat or something if you really need an alert? Don't factories have curved mirrors installed just for this?
The rest of the examples in the article seems useless to be honest. I don't even know why they have to include bulletproof clothes using kevlar like some novel concept.
I want a simple baseball cap or face mask that defeats facial recognition tech. Not shoes that tell me I walk wrong.
