He's just Pestilence's biggest fan, actual Pestilence would simply start another plague without stooping to political manipulation

i've felt this for a while now, the actual tools people use are depressing but what pisses me off is how many people are just blithely okay with obvious slop regardless of source.
Whether it's programmatically scripted 3d models with a human putting in half a joule of effort reading a voiceover, or wholesale AI-generated, it's still slop and i cannot fucking believe people think it's even remotely acceptable.

it's literally just standard operant conditioning, associate the thing with something positive like food until your brain just inherently likes doing the thing.
Which clearly works really effectively!

at least for me it's also a matter of breaking it down so things actually feel achievable, so i know what to do right now. Doing the dishes is for me always a matter of doing each individual dish at a time and praying to god my energy lasts through at least 5 items before i deflate like a balloon.

never heard anyone use whatsapp in sweden, everyone is expected to use something that supports sms as a fallback. Usually facebook messenger or whatever the iphone thing is called.
Far as i know the only popular truly separate platform would be something like snapchat or kik or whatever, which is used by teenagers.

Git really is one of those things that just feel like it was pulled from the fabric of the universe, the basic way it works feels so cromulent and obvious in hindsight.
I just wish we'd normalize using it for everyday stuff, a while ago i decided to publish the modpack i'd been fiddling on and almost immediately i realized how much more reliable everything became, no longer did i worry about fucking something up and making the whole thing unusable!
And obviously actual version management prevents final_final_(1).odt situations

Younger generations are biologically aging faster than their older counterparts, possibly contributing to the rising prevalence of early-onset cancer
At the same time though, we're not shredding our bodies with alcohol and cigarettes, so there's that.

The traditional suburban street design of winding roads and cul-de-sacs is just as responsible for U.S. car dependency as the distances created by sprawl, according to new Yale research.
cul-de-sacs are so frustrating because just 2 fucking minor tweaks would make them basically okay: Add pedestrian and bike shortcuts every here and there, and slim down the roads so you can't comfortably drive fast.
You don't even need to remove on-street parking, just use the saved width to make proper parking pockets.

It does however remain true that exercise will make you healthier, especially since fat effectively turns everything into resistance training.
No one should skip exercising just because it won't make them thin, getting exercise while being fat will probably make you feel soooooo much better and prevent injuries.

My general advice is to just look at the per-weight calories of things you buy, not counting calories, just being informed of how calorie dense stuff is. That way you can make informed decisions about your diet without stressing out about precise calorie counts: when you know that you can eat 3x as much French fries as crisps for the same calories, crisps suddenly become less appealing (at least for me).

America vs Europe: Two Ways to Build a City
Reply in thread
Tons of cities have grids, just maybe small ones. A theme in many places is to have an old downtown that has organic streets and a new downtown with a square grid, and then everything else is just a mess of straight and organic shapes.

America in general is just "the cities" and "the countryside" tbh, effectively two different nations side by side.
