Welcome reddit refugees!

It's quite laggy (understandably) and I'm having trouble navigating myself, finding communities/topics, finding people to interact with etc. Naturally there will be teething problems early on, and different problems will arise as the reddit exodus increases. Still, I think Lemmy has huge potential.

How many plan to stay on lemmy post blackout?

I've been increasingly frustrated by reddit for years. The API issue was the final straw. I had 3 accounts and deleted all 3 just before the blackout. I left some posts because I didn't know how to nuke it all without doing it manually. But I doubt anyone viewed anything I posted as valuable, so I'm not bothered. I'm just glad to be rid of reddit, to be honest.

"it's a great honor to be here with you today" yadda yadda...

Answer 13 or so questions with a really pissy corporate tone.

Then just vanish without telling anyone the AMA is actually finished. What a guy.

Lemmy - Why did you leave Reddit?

It was already going the way of Facebook and Twitter for years. I stuck it out because there wasn't any better option. Each time Reddit admins did something stupid and caused chaos, I considered leaving. But the API issue is another level. It's a death blow to anything that's good about the place, and locks in the dystopian future spez and current redditors are choosing.
