New AI systems collide with copyright law

There isn't any open source solution possible if AI models are beholden to copyright laws.

This is advocating for a world where only a handful of companies would be able to train AI models, and the rest of us would become their pets as we move towards an AI driven society.

The artist and writers already lost, there is no going back. Now we see if we all win together or if only google, openai, shutterstock, Adobe, stack overflow, github and reddit win since they are the only ones with the data or able to pay for it.

OpenAI being Sued for "Stealing" Peoples Content Online

China didn't take your job and neither will AI. Corporations will replace you for something that cost less.

We can't really legislate against AI because other countries won't. Its also a huge boon for society, we just have to make sure the profits are redistributed and work hours overall are reduced instead of all the productivity gain going into the pockets of the mega wealthy

[Meta] 🚧 Under New Management 🚧

Thank you for taking on the responsibility, the little background info does inspire confidence. Very cool.

I kind of preferred the rules as they were. This is kind of a wall of text, hard to parse and will probably mostly go unread.

I think keeping the old and just adding the anti bot rule and attribution rule is fine. Just saying attribution must be kept on the image frame if possible is enough. I think bumping up the 2 limit per day max is alright but 5 might be a lot. Quality over quantity and all that.

I'm really against any kind of heavy handedness for raunchy comics, especially if it's about the joke and not the image itself. Having people tag the NSFW stuff (ie actual nudity, sexual content, dildos, etc) is fine imo.

For violence, I mean, we are all adults here and it's cartoon violence in any case. It just feels a bit puritanical to be hard on this kind of stuff. It doesn't really feel like a problem.

Sorry if this is overly critical. Thanks for the help!

When I went down to the basement and saw a desperate looking family I knew I had to report my father to the police.

This community revolves around two sentence horrors, stories where the first sentence typically takes on an other far darker meaning once the second sentence is read.

Its very common for these types of stories to explore difficult content like murder, suicide, conjugal violence, etc so it's natural that some of them would gravitate to the worst horror of all time.

I think it's a very big mistake to turn the holocaust into a taboo that can't be mentioned. I wouldn't call Schindler's list or The Book Thief antisemitic, I wouldn't label this story like that either. I believe it's okay to explore what happened through popular mediums.

There's really nothing humourous about it and it doesn't make light of it at all imo.

Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout

Reply in thread

Building a carless society will take time but we need to get rid of gas right now. The difference of emission for the use and manufacturing of an EV is absolutely not close to the cost of use and manufacturing of an ice vehicle PLUS literally burning gallons just to move it.

Oil companies, their assets and the assets of the barons who own them should be violently seized and used to offset the cost of what they created. Until that happens, we will have to suffer a bit or we will be stuck suffering so much more probably sooner than we think.
