Even if we acknowledge capitalism is responsible for the rising tide of the last 100+ years (and even that is highly situational), it's obviously not working anymore and without a way to externalize the costs of capitalism to people and places that "dont matter" those tools meant to externalize damage are now pointed inwards and the rewards fail to trickle down. now we're all losing more than we put in, with that surplus value going only to the owners.

what a cop out. there's no functional difference between an idiot that works to advance nazi ideologies and the same but they have a swastika tattoo on their neck. to resist fascism means to confront ALL fascists. it's not about disagreement or people you dont like, most people are using ur-fascism as their default definition and umberto eco has a fucking 14 point checklist we're using. to act like it's so arbitrary is completely out of touch.

US tourism industry faces drop-off as immigration agenda deters travellers
Reply in thread
Unless you go as far as having hidden partitions with a fake benign fascade this isnt good enough. How it goes is they plug your laptop into their forensics software, it reports encryption, they say unlock the encryption, you say no, they deny your entry and confiscate your hardware.
The only way I know of is to format a clean laptop and burner phone with nothing on it and put all your necessary work files in the cloud so you can get them back after getting to your hotel -- and even then I've heard people denied because it was clear the machine was formatted too recently and they suspected people trying to do this trick and they dont like tricks.
so your burner laptops and phone have to look "lived in" but still benign. It's much easier just to video chat whatever business youre trying to get done in the usa, and if you're a tourist there are lots of better places to go anyway.

i dont know why you would say this unless youre just replying to headlines.. most of the plastic comes from just a handfull of rivers and they're catching the plastic at the source with their river collection programs (lots of interesting solutions they're using including bubble curtains)

That doesnt work this time because the modding community abandoned it quickly after launch due to them just not enjoying the game enough to work on it -- I was expecting to do this one with VR but it remains unfinished

Ukraine's Zelenskyy Claims Strikes on Russian Data Centers Silenced Social Media Bots
Reply in thread
From how it was explained to me by colleagues that work with this stuff for us is that those data centers were links in a chain of vpns that many bot swarms used and when they went down their ip addresses were reveled and on many platforms that resulted in automated bans and THAT is the subjective experience of the bots being silenced

What? No. In europe you could receive calls for free but calling out cost per minute billing so all the teenagers pretty much only had their phone as a means for their parents to call them. if you had to call your parents you'd call let it ring once and hang up, they'd see the missed call and call you back. if you had one kid whose parents loved them enough to give him a subscription with included minutes instead of pre-paid everyone in the group had to use their phone.

We must be on different lemmys because it seems pretty well understood here that the whole point of socialism is that the workers democratically control the means of production, only liberals from the USA act confused about that
