Not their children.... other peoples children. You know... the poors... those kids can work long hours for low pay and since they are poor, they will be stupid enough to be happy about it. The people voting for this do not need to worry about it affecting their kids... or think they dont....

I have called the police 5 times in my life. Once when someone broke into my car, once when someone broke into my home. Twice when someone was illegally dumping trash on the side of the road, and once qhen a scammer intercepted an 18,000 dollar check. In the 3 cases of theft/B&E i was told there was nothing they could do and given a paper record of what happened to give to my insurance. In the cases of illegal dumping(I was following the people and providing liscense plate number) i was told "we dont handle that, call the county and they will come clean it up"

The police, at least in my area, are fucking worthless. They exist solely to give tickets and fines, while do little to nothing to acrually combat crime or enforce law.

We had water bottles way before plastic.... we used wood, mud, clay, stone, and animal parts to store water before recorded history...

Americans are hardworking too, but the American government is not actively working to support those hardworking Americans, which is the difference.... the average American is working their ass off to earn less than ever to add wealth to the small percentage of ultra wealthy in power here. There are sanctions, tarriffs, and subsidies here, but the vast majority of them benefit the top of the pyramid, while leaving the majority to struggle.

Lemmy has the feel to me that reddit did back in the day. I can only imagine as lemmy gets more popular and becomes big enough for big tech to take notice, that it will become consumed by the same garbage reddit has. Lemmy just isnt big enough yet for them to try and consume.

So for now Lemmy is great, but its only a matter of time before the turds find us here too.

Thats the problem though. I know those places still exist, but the 10-20 minutes a day I have to browse the internet isnt enough to find and verify those places, so the internet is just dead to me. Also the latest generation is growing up with the "dead internet," so many of them dont know that a better internet once existed and still exists in tiny isolated pockets that are getting harder and harder to find without a guide.

I agree with you that this has happened, but it is far from the only reason that vehicles have increased in price. Now almost every vehicle comes with power windows, power locks, power mirrors, at least one if not multiple built in tv screens, wireless locks and keyless ignitions. Not to mention alot of manufacturers building in computer hardware/software to track user information and installing propietary parts/hardware/software designed to keep your local mechanic from doing repair work and forcing you to use dealership mechanics at 3-4 times the cost.

All of it is being done because it makes more money. Mark my words, if they repeal safety regulations, it will definitely reduce the safety of our vehicles, but it will have little to no effect impact on prices. I would wager my left nut that auto manufacturers are chomping at the bit to get this deregulation put through so they can reduce their cost of vehicles by increasing the danger of the consumer, but wont reduce the prices by a fraction of what they are "saving," then will proceed to have record profits while using lobbyists to pay off our crooked politicians.
