Gen Zers' definition of financial success includes joining the top 1% — and they're really confident about making it

From what I could track down, here is all the available data on the polling methodology:

The Empower “Secret to Success” study is based on online survey responses from 2,203 Americans ages 18+ fielded by Morning Consult from September 13-14, 2024. The survey is weighted to be nationally representative of U.S. adults (aged 18+).

It also comes not from a polling company, but from a company that provides financial news, and financial services. No potential conflict of interest there...

Basically, the data is near-worthless.

Anon tries running live USB Linux on his dad's computer

The main problem is it turning itself on with no input from or feedback to the user, and not giving the user access to the key without using a Microsoft account. I've heard of people getting screwed by this because they set up with a local account and thus never got their secureboot key (or did, but it was hidden somewhere and they were never told to save it).

What's the simplest thing humans are too dumb to grasp?

Probability. If something has a 50% chance of occuring, that does not mean it will happen every second time, and our brain has a very hard time rationalizing that. For example, we assume its near impossible to flip heads on a coin three times in a row when really, the probability is 12.5% - not that low. Another example would be something with a 95% chance of success - we naturally round up and assume thats basically garenteed success, but theres still a very decent chance of failure, esspecially on repeat attempts. Our brains are just not wired to handle randomness well, which is part of why gambling is so addicting and why games like X-Com have to rig the odds in the players favour to avoid pissing them off.

It isn't absolute, but its rare for a politician not to be corrupt in some way. Generally to get into power, you have to be willing to put yourself above others or abuse the system. Then, once you're in power, most systems encourage corruption, or even make it hard to avoid. Generally the more powerful the position, the worse it is. That said, just as you should never underestimate the amount of evil in the world, you shouldn't underestimate the amount of good. Even if the system is stacked against them, some good people do manage to get through and genuinely do good things for their people.

Why people loves Mr. Beast content? Or Why his content is so popular?

A) flashy, loud, snippy content that works on people with no attention span or who are easily amused like kids (and annoys everyone else)

And B) clickbait-type, over-the-top content and games that no one else does - the sorts of things that, even if not high-brow, are still interesting. For example, blowing up a Lambrogini appealing to the action-movie lizard-brain, or a giant game of hide and seek appealing to the sort of person who daydreams about how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Basically, its the peak of broad-appeal, low-brow, high effort/production value media.

Was my ex really sorry/guilty?

If he blames you for his grooming of you, he's not sorry. He might feel guilty (or might not), but if he's refusing to accept blame, it doesn't matter; He doesn't feel sorry and doesn't want to change his behavior.

Some people are just evil people who will have no issue with hurting others, and based on what you're describing, it sounds like he's part of that group.
