Youtube added shorts to the subscriptions page, pushing the subscriptions almost entirely off the page...

I highly suggest using Enhancer for YouTube, it allows you to hide shorts and also convert them to normal video player so you can seek them like any other YouTube video.

There's also multitude of different customisation options, you can hide related videos, change default comment order, disable comments altogether, expand the description ;)

Open source game are the best

  • Beyond All Reason (Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation clone)
  • Warzone 2100
  • Liero
  • Hedgewars (Worms clone)
  • OpenTTD (especially JGRPP fork)
  • GZDoom / Woof / DSDA and other DOOM 1 and 2 source ports

And some that require original assets:

  • OpenMW (The Elder Scroll: Morrowind engine replacement)
  • OpenXcom (especially OXCE and Brutal-OXCE forks, they all have great mods, like XCom Files, Harmony, XPiratez)

Also, check this open source or source available games list: https://osgameclones.com/

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it made a modder take down their Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod [VR Injection Framework: +100 games supported] because they were charging money for it [Patreon subscribers]

I don't know where are you getting the "have always been ... and have always been paid for with donations" thing from.

IMHO, its a "recent" thing, folks were doing mods/indie games without getting paid before Patreon/ko-fi/etc. existed. I remember the times when ModDB and IndieDB were popular and so many games in there were completely free. Then Steam Greenlight happened and now everything is early access paid game. Also game demos died.

About the mod slop, its already happening for example in the Minecraft modding, they're filled (mod listing pages and even some mods themselves) with ads, paid access or forcing you to join the discord.

Poland's ruling conservatives lose majority in parliament to centrist coalition

Reply in thread

PIS (Law and Justice) is national-conservative far-right party that in reality is also pro-social market, Konfederacja / Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość (Confederation or in full Confederation Liberty and Independence) is somewhat similar to Law and Justice but they are more pro-free market, and from what we've seen so far they were against Law and Justice in most of the votes and they mostly voted together with Civic Platform.

We also have centrist parties like Trzecia Droga (Third Way) or Koalicja Obywatelska (Civic Coalition) that is coalition of parties previously known as Platforma Obywatelska (Civic Platform), Nowoczesna (Modern), iPL (Polish Initiative) and Zieloni (Greens).

Finally we also have left-wing Lewica (The Left) which is coalition of multitude of smaller parties that were centre-left/far-left.

The results of the 2023 parliament votes are:

  • Law and Justice 35.38% (194 mandates)
  • Civic Coalition 30.70% (157 mandates)
  • Third Way 14.40% (65 mandates)
  • The Left 8.61% (26 mandates)
  • Confederation 7.16% (18 mandates)

So we have 248 mandates for centrist/left-wing parties that probably will work together against 194 mandates for Law and Justice alone or 212 mandates if they are voting with Confederation (that probably won't be the case in votes around economic/social votings).

The sad thing is that the president is literally with Law and Justice and until we vote him out in 2025, the opposition (even with Confederation) won't have majority to vote down his veto. Also I hope there won't be any issues from the president around forming the new government with opposition instead of Law and Justice (even if they had majority).

Hope this helps a little move around here.

There's nothing stopping you from creating such community yourself and if you don't want to mod it, you can always ask somebody to mod it for you or transfer the ownership to later ;) We also have newcommunities community where you could post it for better visibility (but please read the sticky there about how to cross-link between the instances).

Have fun! ;)

White House says Spain has agreed to cooperate with US military; Spanish government promptly denies any such agreement

Alliances are thankfully not only about joining aggressor's wars or joining because your ally joined the aggressor's war. If that would be the case we would have a total war or another world war. Its also great that NATO is a defensive alliance and its articles don't apply for such wars.

As a European I'm happy that we're not joining Trump's and Netanyahu's stupid war (especially after both of them spitting on the international or their own countries' laws).
