America is rotting, with or without Trump
Just imagine what these people have been doing at the border with no witnesses for miles.

Not just AI. China is building technologies that challenge U.S. dominance: From batteries and solar panels to drones and satellites, China is building tech capabilities that extend well beyond AI.

Hong Kong maybe, but Tibet is no more China than Cuba is part of the US. They're two distinct cultures with different histories. You might as well say Korea is China, Vietnam is China.

US scraps limits on emissions from coal and gas power plants
I've gotten looks for saying this, but I don't think I will ever forgive Trump voters for what they've done. I guess that first they would need to sincerely apologize, which I don't think will ever happen either.

I don't think you're being genuine. You can always find people online saying ridiculous shit. You can't control that. But when it enters the sphere of "real politics" it needs to be shutdown. I hate the guy, but even Charlie Kirk could do this. It's a very low bar but I'm not surprised the spineless shitsack Cruz couldn't clear it.

School performance in science, reading and mathematics is collapsing across OECD countries
Climate change, COVID, late stage capitalism, fascism, social media... The so-called polycrisis. It's no wonder kids aren't as enthusiastic about learning anymore. I wouldn't be either.

I think there is likely a more even gender distribution of history nerds who are truly interested in history when it comes to topics outside of politics and military. A lot of men tend to use it for ego stroking and fantasizing about being the great men of history, while there is no similar avenue for women in that regard.

Far-right AfD predicted to win big in crucial German state election

I've met lots of people from different countries and the story is always the same. Low wages, jobs hard to find, housing inaccessible, politicians corrupt. Then the response is always to find a scapegoat. That's the root of fascism, authoritarianism, whatever you want to call it.

The difference is that one is hired by capitalists to protect capital (whether that be slaves or shipments) and the other is organized by communities to protect communities. One is based on greed and self interest, the other is based on personal safety and care for your neighbors. The difference goes a little farther beyond mere belief and emerges from the economic system itself.

[OC] Democrats in the 2020s
Democrats i.e. centrists seem to be dead set on throwing gender issues such as trans rights under the bus right now. I'm not even sure what they stand for anymore.

The attacks come from an emotional, not logical place. Maybe someone can help me understand why there is such a strong reaction to even mentioning the word "vegan" among some folk.

People run marathons for fun. They fight each other for fun. They risk their life to have fun by climbing mountains. But nobody works a steady job for fun. That's because its real hard work.
It's because the product of their labor is taken from them and they are worked like animals.
