Everything is a grift these days.

Over the last few years I've been slowly moving to cheaper/free hobbies, I think part of the reason I'm enjoying them is because they're free, like I can go for a run for nothing apart from some shoes. I like that there's no real upkeep and if my local gym shuts down or whatever I can still just go for a run.

The same thing goes for software, I've started caring more about open source software recently, not just because of the privacy benefits but because it's free! And again with independence, if a paid service shuts down I can't use that software anymore, with open source, you have the code, you can just download it and you've got it, forever.

Poverty is a policy decision

As per my comment to the above post, this is incorrect.

The value of support sent by the US to Ukraine is around $88 billion, however this number is deceptive as a large percentage of it is not direct dollars sent, rather dollar value in equipment, of which the majority was already sitting in boneyards and stockpiles waiting to be decomissioned some years later. This equipment has already been replaced in active duty by newer models or different systems.

Another component, USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative), is where the US alots a certain amount of money that Ukraine can use to purchase equipment from US manufacturers, albeit at domestic rather than export rates. Therefore, it re-enters the economy, and the difference is somewhat reduced.

6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?

I think this may be out of date now, dual booting is relatively simple to set up and there are a wealth of tutorials online for it, setting up a graphics card (nvidia) was a breeze, and for the wide majority of games in my library (I play both indie and AAA), I've had very few issues running native, and most that haven't ran out of the box have guides posted on protondb.com, most are up and running in 5 mins.
