Blood Angels conversion ideas

A few months ago, I caught a neighbour throwing out a huge collection of 40k and fantasy stuff. Naturally I asked them not to do that, but give it all to me.

I went from having a couple of squads here and there to owning several armies. Thankfully a lot of the fantasy stuff was unpainted, but the blood angels army I got was pretty horribly painted.

I am planning stripping the paint off and repainting them. The only problem is, is that I find blood angels quite boring (both lore and paint scheme).

I was wondering of there was a way to convert them to something else other than the classic chaos conversions.

Also, it would be nice to keep sculpting to a minimum, since I have about 30-50 various infantry units, 6 boxy dreadnaughts and 4-6 tanks.

I was thinking legion of the damned or sons of malice but I’m open to any and all suggestions.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 lite

Hi,

I have this terrible old little tablet that was shit even when new with the stock OS. I’ve found on the Lineage website that the regular A7 tab was supported, but I didn’t find anything on the lite.

I’ve checked and it’s an SM-T225. Is it possible to easily install lineage on this device? I finally found a use for it and wouldn’t want to generate ewaste.

Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I don’t know too much about mobile devices.

Whatever happened to 3120

I’m not sure if I’m going crazy. I’m looking at a mid-00s skate magazine right now sponsored by a brand called 3120. I wouldn’t say it was all the rage back then, but it was a reasonably well known brand in skating and hip hop circles. Using ddg and qwant I couldn’t find a single relevant hit. Anyone remember?

Roadside tips and tricks for alpine roadtrip

I’m planning an epic road trip through the alps with about 20 mountain passes in my old shitbox and I was thinking if something goes wrong I’ll probably have to bodge it myself.

Anyone have any tip and tricks for coolant leaks, etc? What should I bring with me other than the obvious fluids, spare wheels, toolbox? What are some common mechanical issues I should look out for?

Sim racing and bazzite

Recently I dipped my toes in sim racing and I could run dirt 2.0 and AC fairly easily with a controller. A few weeks ago I bought a G920 and so far the only game that works with it proper is Dirt 2.0. AC and rF2 are a nightmare. AC shakes the wheel or doesn’t recognize it, rF2 just keeps steering on it’s own (even when the car is stationary, with autosteer off). I also tried RSF RBR, which runs, but after the first launch it doesn’t detect the wheel anymore.

DKMS is not supported on bazzite, I couldn’t get new-lg4ff to work. Oversteer works, but is sort of useless without the driver. I’m a little bit disheartened at this point. Since I bought the wheel, I spent way more time troubleshooting than racing.

Does anyone have any experience running these games on bazzite with a G920? Is there an easy fix to all of these issues that I’m overlooking?

I’m way too settled into bazzite to distrohop now and I really wouldn’t like to have MS in my household.

My main priority would be to get RSF RBR running and then AC or rF2 to have something other than rally.

Thanks in advance for any input

Which is the correct Bazzite version for Thinkpad T14 (gen1, ryzen 7)?

Hi all,

Been using fedora atomic on my previous laptop for about a year (kinoite) and when I bought my current one, I had the guy selling it install Bazzite on it. He installed the gnome version, which is not ideal and also there are a few weird things happening occasionally. I finally decided to just reinstall everything, but I’m stuck trying to get the right settings on the bazzite download page. This laptop has no dedicated GPU and there is no such option while selecting the hardware. Is there a correct choice in this case, or should I just go with whatever AMD GPU?

Thanks,

EDIT: Thanks a lot for the replies, will try thse settings.

De-googling and privacy on Sony xperia

I have been considering replacing my nearly 7 year old iPhone (although very reluctant) and I was checking for options. Really the only phone that caught my eye was the Sony xperia 1 V, but I found no information about how to degoogle and lock down the device. I really like the features and the built in camera apps, etc. Is there a way to degoogle the phone without loosing the funcionality/ease of use?

According to statcounter in June 2023 almost 3/4 of browsers used are Chromium

Sorry in advance for what might appear to be rambling (because it kind of is), but I had a few thoughts and I’m very curious how the community sees these things. I’ll try to do my best to condense them.

After reading through the discussion beneath a post about yet another Brave scandal, I decided to look up the marketshare of chromium. According to statcounter 73.43% of browsers used are chromium based (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet) and only a measly 2.8% use Firefox.

About the statistics: 73% of access to the internet for humans and bots alike go through software largely developed by one player. What are your thoughts on the effect this probably has on the development of the internet as a whole?

About brave and other wildly popular privacy focused products: compared to a lot of people in this fine community I’m a casual-privacist, but I do my best to review what sort of software/hardware I use, weigh opsec and convenience, etc. I also try to stay away from privacy influencers (is that a thing yet? If not, it should be) and the products they tend to shill, which brings me to my next point. What do you think about the scandals surrounding supposedly secure products and services that were heavily pushed by influencers (like brave, all kinds of laughable vpns, password managers, etc.)? Do you think the people who shill these products help or hinder tech literacy? I have a suspicion that most people flirting with the idea of privacy for the first time choose these products and services the same way they would buy a car or a toaster; by googling (affiliate links galore in SEO hell) or watching a video review on youtube and they only long for feeling safe (I’m safe because the talking head said so). What would be a great way to improve the tech/privacy literacy situation? How do we upgrade privacy from being a buzzword in ad campaigns to a life skill (maybe not the best way to describe it, but you get the point)?

Lastly, and thank you for bearing with me here. What’s wrong with Firefox?! Is it the marketing (or lack thereof)?

tldr: basically a long showerthought and an invitation for discussion about the unfair marketshare of chromium, and “privacy focused” products shilled by influencers.

Disclaimer: I don’t know how accurate the linked data is, I did not collect it or review it and I don’t know how trusted the site is supposed to be. True that I have some negative opinions about Brave and I have never used it. Probably never will and the only reason is that it just seems a bit fucky to me, even if it doesn’t have any dangerous faults. Reading the rules, I didn’t find anything that prohibits posta like this, but if I’m mistaken… sorry.
