.... Fair
FYI, most places will just use the total if there's anything wrong with your math (assuming it's at least what you owe) so this is perfectly valid.

Polymarket paid influencers to fake winning bets, built dummy websites to pull it off
Reply in thread
Bets aren't 1-1.
You can have one person with insider information win a seemingly impossible bet against 1000 people taking the other side.
The person who wins takes in a ton of money, and Polymarket takes a cut.
Each of those 1000 people all thought they had an easy win, but the only people winning these bets are people who either are the people making the decisions, or who are in the room with the people making those decisions.

Trump abruptly calls off signing ceremony for housing bill, blindsiding Republicans

25th only matters if Trump can't or won't cancel it.
Contesting the 25th amendment is just as hard as impeachment and removal, so might as well just go that route without the extra steps.

Trump may be mystery patient in odd case of 79yo getting experimental obesity drug

That's the point, apparently he tried other weight loss drugs and they didn't work. I guess his addiction to McDonald's is stronger than Ozempic.

Is vinyl record piracy a thing?
Reply in thread
Most people I know bought records, but used reel-to-reel to copy them.
Later it was cassettes to copy them.
Never saw anyone try to copy the physical record itself.

A Judge Accepted AI Video Testimony From a Dead Man
This isn't a message from the victim. This is a message from his sister using his image as a way to increase the impact of her statement in court.
This is a bad thing, this is manipulating the court with a false and confusing message.

'I had to RUN to my Mac mini like I was defusing a bomb': OpenClaw AI chose to 'speedrun' deleting Meta AI safety director's inbox due to a 'rookie error'
I love how these models apologize like they mean it. It doesn't mean it. It doesn't feel bad, and it will do it again.
Apologies mean "I made a mistake and I learned from it so it won't repeat."
Sure it claims it added more notes to it's config, but if it ignored the rules before, what makes you think that new rules are going to change anything?

German members of parliament (MPs) advised to drop Signal in favor of Wire over security concerns
This is due to phishing attacks and account takeover attempts, not due to the platform itself being insecure.
They state that wire can be signed up with using an email instead of phone number, so it's less likely that someone will know the validation account used to sign up.
Feels to me like it's just a different attack vector. Maybe it's harder to do attacks on wire, but they didn't really say that in this article.
My gut says it's less attacked just cause it's less used, not that it's more secure. But I'm certainly willing to admit that I haven't looked into wire much.

They don't need something mobile. They can stick 1000 cameras up for the cost of one of these and have less up keep.

Reddit users hate NordVPN. Are their criticisms legit?
Send like most of the valid criticism is based around the fact that the company also is in the business of user data mining. Which is enough for me to never use them.
Though they also very aggressively advertise, which is also a big red flag.
Sharing co-owners with Tesonet and receiving funding from the same company that owns a data-mining service isn’t ideal. But there is no evidence, and never has been, that anything is being shared between NordVPN and Oxylabs. Besides, NordVPN states that it follows a strict no-logs policy, which means it doesn’t record, store, or share user activity. And this is backed up by the usage of RAM-only servers and multiple independent audits—most recently the service passed a third-party no-logs audit in late 2025 by security firm Deloitte.
