When your hair is short, you can wash it with Gatorade and it'll look acceptable. The longer it is, the more you have to maintain it. I'm a guy who grew his hair out.

nothing happens other than some news stories.
Well that's not true. The flotillas are forcing Israel to very publicly show that they don't allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. We just had a wave of countries recognize Palestine as a state. She has helped destroy Israel's perceptions worldwide. This is like saying Rosa Parks should've just not gotten on the bus. Getting arrested is the point of the protest.

Women gamers boycott global esports tournament over trans ban

Exactly. I know chess has women-only events and open events. There is no men's event. There just wouldn't be any women if a space weren't dedicated to women. The culture is so male dominated that it's needed with no respect to advantage. I imagine e-sports is the same way.

Who deserves a massive apology from everyone?
Monica Lowenski. She was an intern that was the victim of workplace sexual misconduct with possibly the biggest power imbalance possible. Yet she was dragged for being a whore.

That feels kind of all-or-nothing. Environmental issues are part of the problem destabilizing societies. Overall, the poisoning of the environment is much worse and much less contained with fossil fuels than with nuclear power. Distant future societies might have no knowledge of nuclear storage sites and a few people might even die before they realize they need to stop breaking into the underground barrels. But a lot more people will die from the environmental havoc that we're causing with fossil fuels. And they can't just stay away from the barrels to avoid that one.
Just to be clear, I think wind and solar (and geothermal where appropriate) are the best ways to get off of fossil fuels. They've gotten a lot cheaper than nuclear so it doesn't make much sense to build new reactors. But it also doesn't make much sense to shut them down if nuclear waste is the only issue.

Today millions of people gathered to stand up against fascism. America does not accept a wanna-be king. No kings.
My 60yo dad went in the small red town he lives in. It's his first ever protest. He recently retired from teaching high school and some of his old trans students that he fought for in the school invited him. He said he'd never be able to forgive himself if he didn't go.

Master tactician Trump reveals his plan
This right here is why I've always laughed at the concept of "energy independence" through domestic oil extraction. The US produces much more oil than it uses. The oil coming out of the straight of Hormuz is not coming to the US. However, oil is a global commodity and the price goes up or down for everyone.

This argument never seemed true to me. A typical uprising isn't suppressed with tanks and fighter jets. It's suppressed with police. Your uprising doesn't have bases and fortifications to bomb. An uprising isn't attempting to control territory. The military and all it's power isn't really built to supress an uprising. The US lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan despite having the most powerful military in the world because asymmetric tactics work.

GOP tax bill would ease regulations on gun silencers and some rifles and shotguns
Truth be told, I hope the democrats don't waste energy fighting this. Their effort would be much better spent on fighting the tax policies. Suppressors and short barrelled rifles (SBRs) are pretty easy to get if you don't care about doing things legally. The $200 tax stamp and paperwork mostly serve to make law abiding gun owners' lives more cumbersome. In the 30s, a $200 fee was basically a ban, these days it's less than the suppressor itself. Hell America is actually pretty unique in restricting suppressors. They're legal in many parts of the world because they have more sporting value than criminal value.

Belgium Proves F-16 Anti-Drone Rocket That Bypasses U.S. Supply Chain, Ukraine Set to Benefit | Defense Express
Interesting. It seems like a copy of the same concept as the US APKWS which is just a cheap 70mm rocket with a guidance kit fitted to the front. I'm not surprised that someone else did the same thing since the whole point of the concept is that it's cheap and easy to roll out. I suspect that we'll see these "rockets" (missiles?) used for ground based air defenses before too long.

Right after the Oct 7 Hamas attack, Israeli spokespeople were comparing the attack to 9/11. They were trying to make the comparison to drive support for their attacks on Gaza. But I couldn't help but think that 9/11 got the US to enter a needless conflict killing a bunch of innocent people. They wanted to do the same thing.
