I have a friend who's son is transitioning, not a single of the kids at his school give a single shit. Even more so they say things to their parents like, "how can you be so binary" and such like. The kids don't care it's the parents who are uncomfortable and projecting it unto the kids.

As an overall metric, but some things have definitely gotten worse. The planet is on fire for instance. That's getting worse and we haven't even gotten into the really bad part.

I mean plenty of reasons to be depressed, we have destroyed our planet, we are in the middle of the biggest mass extinction in 140 million years, and we can't afford anything anymore. But yeah it's a mindset or something.

We have lost 80% percent of insect biomass in the last 60 odd years, which has a huge ripple effect up the food chain, lots and lots of species (used) to rely on them for food. With most of them gone all the upstream species are being sffect / dying out as well.
