Why in the fuck is CNN "interviewing" this thing?
"On camera"?
Wouldn't that just be a camera pointed at a processor in a data centre somewhere?

Testing the l’appétit vient en mangeant hypothesis
“Let’s just say, she’s unlearning her conception of attraction” is the woke way of saying a girl is an easy lay.

Which invention of human technology is your least favourite?
Cars, and all the resulting infrastructure.
Ruined city structures and, to an extent, local communities. Small corner stores and tight-knit communities have vanished in favour of giant shopping malls meant to serve everyone in a huge radius.

It’s tough not to form a superiority complex these days when you hear of people who can’t compose emails by themselves.

This is ridiculous
I lived through the birth and widespread adoption of the Internet and it’s becoming increasingly likely I’ll live through its death, too. You don’t realise you were in the good old days until they’re over.

I don't know if I've read of any Apple fans who don't think this is creepy or at the very least wildly unnecessary as a feature.

There's a lot of "Heal the political divide" being said to mean "meet them halfway" when what it should mean is the ignorant and prejudiced learn and the media machine dismantled, like how "Heal the healthcare class divide" means "Help poor people see doctors affordably".

I have an old Apple Watch and this made me wanna get rid of it.
I've bought into their ecosystem (mainly just because I hate every other tech giant slightly more) but they've really done little to impress me these past few years...

I've read (and don't quote me on it) that the way it gets around those laws is it's technically not "recording". It's real-time dictation with no audio recorded or transmitted anywhere...
... But even so, it really goes against the spirit of those laws.

The most conspiratorially minded are also the most likely to miss the obvious.
During COVID lockdowns, while I worked retail, a few customers didn't want to use the QR codes to "check in" to the store because "tracking", but then used digital contactless payment without a thought.

Shame I can’t boycott because this was a boring product update and I wasn’t gonna buy it anyway.

How do you reply to people saying "i have nothing to hide?"
Everyone has something to hide. That’s why I’m not posting my online banking password on Facebook or letting anyone install cameras in my toilet.

The new Apple Watch will use microphone and other sensors to generate AI recaps of your day - 9to5Mac
Privacy concerns aside, if you need generated summaries of your own day, I don't know if I can relate to you as a person because wtf are you not paying attention to anything anyone says to you?

I never want pictures of me on Facebook. I simply don't want Meta knowing what I look like.
To protect myself, I avoid having friends or attending family gatherings.

driving tests should be done on a regular basis if you want to keep your drivers license
Reply in thread
There is that, but I'd also argue quite a lot of people would be against this proposal because they don't want a drivers licence really; they just don't live in a walkable area but want to get to work and be able to shop and the licence and owning a car is just a means to an end. If you're a competent driver, having to retake the test would be a pain in the ass and your reward effectively is "You may continue to exist in society."
Getting the letter that you're due for a test would be more frustrating than a jury duty summons; jury duty pays.
The elderly resent the prospect of losing their licence for exactly that reason; it puts them at the mercy of family and expensive taxis to be able to feed themselves.
In a sane world, yes we'd all recognise driving can be dangerous and tests are sensible, but in that world you wouldn't need a car to do basic shit either.
