Matty Healy: Malaysia festival cancelled after The 1975 singer attacks anti-LGBT law

Reply in thread

How about y'all go build houses and toilets for some uncontacted tribe and force them to change their lifestyles?

Kinda off topic but I was so surprised when I visited Colombia and found poor communities living in shacks on the beach. Their properties are worth 10s of millions of US dollars and they refuse to sell because they don't want to give up the lifestyle and community that they have. Really puts into perspective how wrong we can be when we think we are helping people.

What's a philosophical (not overtly political) position that you hold?

So the interesting part in my mind for this is that you would die and be gone, there would just exist another entity that can perfectly replicate you. Take for example the case of there being two of you, which one is the real one? The original? What if I kill the original? Does the new one become the real you? But what if I don't kill you but let the duplicate replace your life. Are you the real you trapped in some cell, or is the duplicate the real you living your life?

My point really is that it's all a matter of perspective. For everyone else the clone would be the real you, but from your perspective you are the real you and the clone stole your life.

Lemmy.ml/c/ps5 is moving to Lemmy.world/c/ps5

Reply in thread

So your suggestion is to centralize all gaming communities onto a single lemmy instance? That sounds like a great alternative. Besides, the real decentralization would be having a ps5 community on lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, and lemdro.id. That way if any one instance is shut down there are still two more that users can migrate to.

Anon is disillusioned about Starfield

They literally live off hype then going quiet long enough for people to forget the disappointment. The older people remember and don't expect much, the middle aged people remember but are hopeful they'll be better (and that the older people are just jaded), and the younger people just fall for the hype.

This is it, this is all Bethesda is now. Constantly recycling suckers through long dev cycles and hype.

every npc has a schedule they follow over the course of the day

except they don't in Starfield

find new things organically

I mean maybe you can argue you can still do this but it's less "stumble on ancient tomb" and more "click on a interesting looking marker on the map"
