The communities discuss piracy, not host the content. They are two different things.

The user that requested it was a troll account create dhours before. The same user then went on to create a transphobic community and post hate. Not the sort of person the admins should be knee jerking to.

This incorrectly lists Lemmy.zip as federated - we've been defederated for months.

Just a couple of quick answers to potential questions.

• Will this affect federation? No - even sites in the UK will still be able to federate with Lemmy.zip both ways. This just affects users trying to access the lemmy.zip website

• Does this affect apps? Possibly - the front ends will definitely be affected (i.e. m.lemmy.zip). Apps like voyager etc remains to be seen, as I haven't done any testing on these yet.

Ah good, what everyone said would happen is exactly what is happening.

Sure its not the data verification company directly, but proves that the whole process is so sufficiently complex that your ID could end up with multiple different providers and then be stolen. Not great.
