That’s the problem, I’m not sure it’s ‘worked’ in the UK for a long long loooong time…
And your suggestion of a watery bint throwing swords might be a better method of choosing a leader than any that have come about for a while now

What's the status on Wikipedia donations?
I’ve increased the amount I donate since the campaign to discredit them has been in effect.
Maybe they aren’t perfect, but I don’t like the idea of a world without such a wonderful resource being freely available to everyone no matter their background or financial status.
I used it a lot as a student but couldn’t afford to donate then. I don’t use it directly a lot these days, but I’m sure indirectly it contributes to articles I read, & I can afford to donate now, so I try to pay it back & some.
Information is power, & those in/with power seem to currently be trying their best to bring everyone else down. Any small thing I can do to help prevent that is a win in my book.

The coal industry is collapsing
That’s a really good read! Very positive despite certain groups trying to keep fossils relevant to milk profits a while longer, fuck em, hope this really is the turning point that clean energy takes the lead…

How did Facebook intercept their competitor's encrypted mobile app traffic? [Old]
Really good technical write up, thanks for posting.
In any sane world any company using these sorts of abusive practices, especially at this sort of scale, would be banned from the mobile app stores & fined to oblivion.
Alas, I fear a small fine is the best that may happen via user initiated lawsuits, which ends up as just another cost of doing business for orgs of that size.

Disney Spent More On ‘Andor’ Than Any Of Its ‘Star Wars’ Movies
And it showed, some of the best content in the SW universe, along with Clone Wars/Bad Batch which I thought would be rubbish & ended up thoroughly enjoying more than nearly any of the recent films!

Thanks for the reminder, I just tipped via ‘settings > Support Voyager’ in-app. Been meaning to for a while anyway, but this deserves reward.

Wikipedia is resilient because it is boring
Reply in thread
Thanks for encouraging to read the whole thing. That is a loooong article! But a great informative read. Took me a couple of sittings to read it all properly, well worth it!
I had no idea about so many of the challenges they’ve gone through & seemingly managed to fight back so many attempts to control & mask the content on more volatile subjects. Always had a lot of respect for the editors, but even more so now.
I do donate a small amount to them once or twice a year. I think I will try to increase my donations going forward knowing it might help with some of their legal fights.
Knowledge really is power, & we all deserve access to true knowledge, more now than ever it seems.
