Can't load avif files on Android?
I don't know whether this is a problem with Android libraries or the app, but it does present a problem as my instance appears to convert submitted images to avif.

I'm looking at deals on handhelds, and the Miyoo Flip has an excellent deal going on Aliexpress going on right now. However, it's pretty close in price to its nearest competitors, the Anbernic RG35XXSP and RG34XXSP. The trouble is that those systems have some kind of major hangup in terms of features that prevents me from getting them. The 35 has no analog sticks whatsoever, and the 34 has a wonky 3:2 screen that makes console games really small. As seems to be the usual, Anbernic is so close to perfection. But that gap is where the Flip supposedly comes in.
But as is probably widely known, Miyoo has historically had quality control problems. I've already ruled out getting the Grey SNES color model, because the plastics on that one are supposedly much lower quality than the other colors. So I'm wondering if there's any other reasons I should avoid getting it - everything else aside, it seems like with some custom firmware it's exactly the sort of budget clamshell I'm looking for.
Alternatively, are there other similar handhelds in this <$70 price range that I haven't heard of? Namely pocket-sized, clamshell handhelds with analog stick(s) and capability up to the PS1.
I don't know what changed, but just a week ago images linked in posts were embedded faithfully at full size when opened as a post. Now, I have to click on the link itself to see the full image.
For reasons unknown, this file and only this file is highlighted on hover. Nothing else works, not even the default icon. It's also a little small, but I don't know how to change that.
Also, this was like my second time using Inkscape to make something, so be nice. Arch Linux icon vector graphic is from...gonna be real, I forget. I made this months ago.
Hopefully the animated webp loads.
Here's a link to the icon. https://github.com/DaforLynx/arch-linux-applauncher-icon
Looking for alternatives to Twitter microblogging. Mastodon seemed cool but has its downsides. Pleroma purports to be lighter-weight to host and fully ActivityPub compatible. What's the catch?
(I am not very experienced with the fediverse, having only just joined Lemmy)
If you want to start romhacking, or are just curious about how the games were put together, there is no better time than now. Thanks to the efforts of pret and the open source community, every mainline Pokémon game up to Emerald has been decompiled.
I mean most members here were probably aware of these, but I thought it would be helpful for anyone who didn't know these existed
I think this community could serve as a great repository for resources on romhacking. If only because much information on romhacking is not very easily searchable, or old, or trapped in forums. Surfacing that info here would add value to this community. And if the instance goes down, at least federated instances will still have the info.
After all, don't many platforms (or heck, browsers) render .zip URLs nonfunctional due to security concerns? Meaning our community.lemmy.zip links may not automatically hyperlink when we want them to, or it may trigger security risk popups. Whoops. Feel free to correct me.
Can anybody not in the instance I'm logged into see this post?
This is by far the best Lemmy app on the Play store so far. There's some bugs and missing features but it's been very stable and looks auper clean.
So here's a couple of inconveniences I've come across, speaking as someone very new to this with only one account on one instance:
Thanks devs! I would make an issue on Github but these are rather small grievances.
