Probably because your moka pot is aluminum (or otherwise non-magnetic) so induction can't heat it.

This is wrong. Induction requires magnetism, not conductivity. A pure aluminum pan will not get hot on an induction hob. Some aluminum pans have an iron or steel plate inserted in their base to allow them to work on induction.

Here are the results of a quick internet search explaining it from various sources.
Also, if you just look at the FAQ or owners manuals for any induction cooktop out there, they will all tell you the pans have to be magnetic to function. Not "for best performance", to function at all.
It really sounds like you are thinking exclusively of induction forges, which can heat non-magnetic materials. Induction cooking hobs absolutely cannot heat non-magnetic materials to any noticeable or useful degree, they do not have the frequency range or the power for eddy currents alone to be sufficient. Induction forges on the other hand HAVE TO have the power to heat with just eddy currents because if you heat iron or steel up to glowing, it loses magnetism (and the heating slows significantly past that point).
https://kindle-tech.com/faqs/what-materials-can-be-induction-heated
Ferrous metals (like iron, nickel, and cobalt) have an additional, more powerful source of heat.
These materials are composed of small magnetic regions called domains. The alternating magnetic field from the induction coil causes these domains to rapidly flip their polarity, billions of times per second.
This rapid flipping creates immense internal friction, which generates significant heat. This hysteresis effect is what makes ferrous metals heat so much more quickly and efficiently than their non-ferrous counterparts.
https://axiomht.com/blog/how-does-induction-heating-work/
In ferromagnetic materials like iron and steel, a second heating mechanism kicks in.
As the alternating magnetic field repeatedly reverses the magnetic domains within the material, the friction generates additional heat known as hysteresis losses. This effect disappears once the material crosses its Curie temperature (around 770°C for steel), at which point ferromagnetic properties are lost. Above that point, eddy currents carry the full heating load. For industrial heat treatment of carbon steel, both effects work together in the lower temperature ranges, delivering faster heating rates.

In ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic materials, such as iron, heat is also generated by magnetic hysteresis losses.

No, I am saying the pan has to be magnetic, which is what I have said 3 times now. You are completely wrong about how induction cooking works.
Heat from eddy currents is a small fraction of what magnetic hysteresis can produce. You can technically heat any good conductor with eddy currents alone if it is non-magnetic, but the equipment needed is significantly more complex and power hungry than induction cooking hobs.

We thought it could never get better than this
I got bored during a particularly slow period at work once and wanted to just play minesweeper or solitaire and found I did not have that option on modern windows without download some bullshit "app" from the "app store" that was full of ads...

The thing is, gas cooking will be banned at some point and you won't be able to buy new ones. It is not a matter of "if" but "when". I don't know if that is going to be soon or not, probably depends where you live really. But given that is where it will go eventually, it sure would be nice if the induction options came down in price and there were options across the range of models available. Currently, most brands only offer induction at the top of their range and radiant electric at the lower end and it would be better all around if they were treated separately instead of tricking consumers into "it is just cheap electric vs expensive electric".

Oh yea, that's a different problem. One of the big drawbacks of all radiant electric unfortunately.

They claim GPL 3 license but the whole thing was written by a chat bot, so can they even pretend they own it instead Anthropic? I'd be interested to see how that would play out if challenged.

I tried CachyOS, but here's why Bazzite is still my go-to Linux gaming distro
Man, there are a lot of idiots that have clearly never used any Arch based distros for any appreciable amount of time just constantly sharing the same slop talking points.
This whole (prompted) "article" is just a rehashing of every idiot's idea of what an immutable distro means ("it can't break". Bullshit) and what a rolling release distro means ("It's unstable, it always breaks!". Bullshit).

Help me choose my 2nd (Dual boot) Linux distro on my PC as a Linux beginner
Between those two, CachyOS for sure. You are already running LMDE, imo there is zero benefit to dual-booting with Ubuntu... You are likely going to be running into the exact same problems you already are.

What video games were a Musical awakening for you?
Test Drive 5 and Hades. Two musical awakenings about 25 years apart.
Both have fantastic sound tracks, but also wildly different.

New! From Google! "Enhanced" ad privacy!
It's funny how small incremental changes over the years felt like nothing big was happening and then at some point we all woke up to a world where the largest advertising firm in the world basically is the internet for the vast majority of people. Everyone uses chrome and rarely types in a web address, they just type the name of the thing into Google and trust mommy to show them what's appropriate. They've back doored the entire population into basically what AOL was trying to be 20 years ago.
"we are going to help protect your privacy" from WHO Google? Is it from you? Because it seems like we need protection from you most of all. Constantly being gaslit by mega-corporations is the new American dream. It's okay because they love us, deep down, and we know that even though they don't show it.

Uproar as EU Parliament declines to hold minute of silence for Charlie Kirk

Did they hold a moment of silence when that minnesota dem senator was killed? Honestly curious if there is even precedent for them doing it even for a politician.
I'm sure they don't hold a moment of silence every time someone in the US dies of gun violence, since they would never be able to speak...

Google must pay €4.1bn fine for using Android to 'block' rivals
significant investment to ensure Android remains open.
Unless you want to install apps not from the google app store. Or develop apps not for the google app store. Or use a Captcha without having google services. Or use your bank website without google services. or use the internet without chrome. or... shit, sorry, I don't have time to list all the ways google wants the exact opposite of anything anywhere remaining "open" unless by "open" they mean "open to google's exploitation".

Neuroscientist warns Gen Z first generation less cognitively capable than their parents
As a society, we chose to only teach ONE FUCKING GENERATION how to use technology and then went "well, young people 'just understand' technology, we don't need to teach it anymore" and then somehow decided to just give all the kids a fucking tablet or laptop and assume they would LEARN THROUGH OSMOSIS I GUESS? Meanwhile we are defunding education across the country to absolutely shameful lows. (yes, I'm focused on the USA - I doubt "Cooney Horvath" is basing this broad generalization meant to scare people into buying his books on a study of ALL CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD) AND THEN we let tech-bro-oligarchs decide EVERYTHING related to tech for two entire fucking decades and are just SHOCKED they did the thing that was best for profits, not the children (whose lives it was actively ruining for profit).
BUT YES, JARED HORNY CORVATH, your astute observations PROVE it was the fault of the LAPTOP that the next generations are "INHERANTLY DUMBER" (feels like a dog whistle, I dunno for what - but it's trying to justify something, I can feel it in my bones).

TIL that Toys R Us wasn't killed by competition, but by private equity companies
The fact that they can buy a company by going into debt and immediately transfer the debt to the company is fucking insane. Maybe we need to figure out how we as individuals can do that and just fucking crash the lending industry entirely? Can I make my house buy itself for me and then "whoopsie, the house can't pay the bills, guess it will file for bankruptcy and hand me a big ol' stack of cash".

framework doesn't rule

Someone else struck an important chord:
Additional edit: I think it’s quite telling that a community response of “I’m not happy with this development, please consider changing your mind or I’m going to spend my money elsewhere” is now being met in this thread with responses including inflammatory fascist and racist talking points, transphobia, etc, while Framework says and does nothing about it. It shows exactly the sorts of things Framework is permitting in their “big tent” by rewarding right-wing extremists with money and sponsorship. What a way to tank a community that – a few years ago at least – seemed pretty welcoming and inclusive.
The community defense is riddled with typical far-right talking points. "What do you mean you don't want to include literal nazis in your community? What ever happened to tolerance?"
