I came across someone interested to discuss ideas who tried to buy a historic church for sale in Memphis. Even if we can no longer try to get this church, we could create a similar plan somewhere else, potentially with five different sports, aiming to create a similar saying as one from a place by one of the co-founders, Tom Shadyac, of the Memphis Rox climbing gym - a nonprofit place for people regardless of ability to pay - if we can gain enough support. Maybe this location can also be the official filming location for a Decades of Dodgeball Documentary with what began in 2001 in DeSoto county and later expanded with free play practices into tennis courts of Memphis.

The multi-court design could be inspired by the one you can see on the YouTube link below, from Season 3 of Extreme Dodgeball from Game Show Network, but we can modify the ends to open / close to offer different sports on different days of the week.

The Five Sports:

I noticed some churches became skate parks and some became breweries, so I saw the potential to make this new plan become a reality.

The location for sale in the image is next to a few restaurants, so as one way to try to make it a cost efficient plan, would be to potentially use one of those screens to allow customers to order food without having to speak to employees and potentially having all the food to be made from the places next door, as a way to try to support the Memphis businesses next to the church, if we would be allowed to have their menus on the screen in the church, as one example.

The location of the church is next to Westy's - Casual eatery is a trolley-line stop for Southern eats & pies in a quirky space with booth seats, and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

International Teams Training Sessions:

I would be willing to help try to train players interested in representing their country in international dodgeball events, but I won't be able to do as much as I hoped, because I was injured at work on Friday the 13th, in January of 2023, and I'm still in a state of shock the doctors made a final decision that I should return to work, since the main areas are still in such high levels of almost constant pain, muscle spasms, tingling sensation, numbness, but maybe I can save that story for part of the documentary since it all relates to trying to help others stay active and healthy through the power of sport. Since I felt unable to return to work after trying and trying again, I can try to dedicate all of my time to this plan if it goes well. One last positive note on that - being in such high levels of almost constant pain has helped me lose my fear of returning to Ukraine, so I returned December 2024 to February 2025, and I also lived there for seven months in 2021 when I hosted a few English speaking clubs and dodgeball practices. Someone in Kyiv and Odesa both recently told me not to return yet, because I was recently talking to others about it if my plans to try to help others go through, so maybe my offer to try to train people interested in representing their countries in international dodgeball events in the Memphis area will only be for up to six months per year.

I was also part of a recreational international traveling dodgeball team composed of players from multiple countries, so the training sessions could also be for recreational players as well, potentially creating a recreational and competitive Memphis traveling team as another opportunity for new content with the Decades of Dodgeball Documentary. Inspired by the annual Fallout meetup aka Fallout Fan Celebration, the NES Super Dodgeball game, and extraction and battle royale games, introducing a new annual meetup proposal.

The NES Super Dodgeball game features a beanball, aka Last Player Standing mode, which is similar to a battle royale game, played in an open area with one ball, and with every player for themselves. Catches don't bring a player back in. Our meetup can focus on being a fun and recreational event, also offering something for competitive players or spectators, as well as an e-sports division to help fit the gaming theme.

Another division of events to make our meetup unique can be a version of dodgeball inspired by extraction games. Sample rules of Extraction Dodgeball (name TBD) - Ball Types:

Blue - Each team starts with 1. This ball can be used to eliminate other players, or to block other throws.

The following ball types can't be used to throw or block, and must be taken across a goal line without getting hit by a blue ball to score points -

Green - 5 points

Purple - 4 points

Orange - 3 points

Yellow - 2 points

Red - 1 point

World Battle Royale Dodgeball Series / World Extraction Dodgeball Series - I first began playing dodgeball in my first year of high school in 2001, unaware of any competitive existence of the sport, 12 years later I was selected to represent my country, and I gained experience across 7 countries. I want to help give others the opportunity to experience the pleasure of representing your country in sport, so we can also include a biannual world series for our meetup.

Dates / Location: Dates are TBD but for location, as a way to try to give everyone a chance to be part of this new annual meetup inspired by the annual Fallout Fan Celebration, we can try to host this event in every country with enough people wanting to participate, and then selecting the top players from each country to represent their country at the biannual battle royale and extraction dodgeball series.

Imagine a dodgeball match with a set of rules inspired by the conquest game mode in the battlefield series, played by 6 factions with a Half Life theme, so you can picture an advertising video from the first event where you’d see many players potentially dressed up as Half Life factions; Resistance, Xen, The Combine, Aperture Science, Race X, and The Employers, running across the Italian hills shown in the image above (official location TBD) throwing dodgeballs.

Partially from inspiration reading about the Fallout meet ups, this plan aims to bring together different communities related to gaming, Half Life Battlefield Dodgeball Meet Up.

I heard a dodgeball world record event had over 6,000 people, so the following plan could be possible, however, we don't look at the record breaking part of the plans as a requirement to try to make it all happen.

Imagine a dodgeball match with a set of rules inspired by the conquest game mode in the battlefield series, played by 6 factions with a Half Life theme, so you can picture an advertising video from the first event where you’d see many players potentially dressed up as Half Life factions; Resistance, Xen, The Combine, Aperture Science, Race X, and The Employers, running across the Italian hills shown in the image above (official location TBD) throwing dodgeballs.

Rough draft rules:

Only 1 ball per team and 4 refs per ball, with 1 of the 4 refs holding a camera.

Hitting a player eliminates them from that round, but a catch only awards ball possession.

Players must stay a certain amount of feet away from other players if they have the ball.

Control points could be disc golf goals which would be in a neutral zone where players can’t throw / dodge / catch in for safety reasons. After a point is scored, a 3 minute timer is set until another point can be scored at that location.

If successful, we can create multiple locations for the series to try to allow more people the chance to participate in the events.

I often hear quotes from the dodgeball comedy film when inviting others to play, since I first began playing at age 14 in 2001. The comedy film has helped inspire me to create a film about the sport uniting the world, with one team per country. We would use a style inspired by the NES Super Dodgeball video game, with one 8.5 inch rubber ball in play. Would you be interested in being the representative of your country? I first began playing dodgeball at the age of 14 in 2001 at after school free play events, and the hosts got the inspiration to get the ball rolling from the NES Super Dodgeball video game. At the time, I was completely unaware of any existence of competitive events for the sport, but 12 years later, I was selected to represent my country on the international level, and I've now gained experience with the sport in 7 countries.

I'm ready to return to Ukraine, to help them stay active and healthy through the sport of dodgeball, and to help them practice their English. In 2021 I hosted a few English speaking clubs and dodgeball practices in Odesa, Ukraine.
