Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?

Reply in thread

I have never met someone who lost their saves back-to-back before, hahaha. What nefarious spirit did you anger to call this curse upon you? Also that sounds like a remarkably bad save system in Routine, unfortunately.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll definitely keep an eye out for it during future sales. I've heard others praise the setting too, that's definitely one of the things I'm attracted too. Especially the interior and clutter design, which very few games get right.

The International 2026 - Grand Final Day

Reply in thread

I don't mind a bit of a ramble!

Yeah, I think Omnislash is just a conceptually bad ultimate for pro Dota. Even this final game had that moment where if Omnislash didn't jump into the illusions Satanic gets a double kill instead of dying and Pari would have increased their momentum instead of losing it. So you're definitely right about the RNG being a huge problem too. I still think the fact that it's so easy to counter is a bigger problem than RNG, though. There were way more instances that were ruined by saves and Aeon Disk/Ghost Scepter than by unlucky jumps.

Agreed with Bounty Hunter too, although in the other direction. It's broken on a fundamental level and I don't see how you balance it in a way that makes it appropriately good and viable. Maybe removing the damage amp from Track, but I fear that will make him a never-pick again.

Also about your last paragraph, I completely agree. The general style of play this TI was great, even with the long games, with mostly fun Dota to watch and cool team fights. Maybe a tad too few comebacks, is the only thing I was wishing for, but I also remember the rubber band patch and that wasn't great either so 🤷‍♀️

How clean up Drafts?

Reply in thread

While on the topic of drafts, I have some other ideas, and I might as well run this by you to see if it's feasible.

I would love to have the opinion to "pin" drafts (to be used for templates for example), and for default behaviour to be that when you select an unpinned draft from your draft list, that draft is marked for automatic deletion if you end up actually pressing the "send" button.

This way you could have the best of both worlds: you can keep your templates easily accessible while your temporary reply drafts kind of clean themselves out automatically.

Don't know how technically feasible it would be to implement, though, or whether it'd be worth the hassle.

The International 2026 - Grand Final Day

It was... last year hahaha. In the deciding game. That's why it's such a meme. Honestly the hero needs something like a built-in Nullifier on the ult. Feels like well over half the power budget of the hero is in the Ult, which you not only have cheap items like Aeon Disk and Ghost Scepter to counter but also the proliferation of saves in many support heroes' toolkits just further make it a worthless pick.

The International 2026 - Grand Final Day

Yeah, it's heartbreaking but the better team did win. I really think they should have drafted differently, but even in this game they had chances. So many small moments - that time Omnislash went into the illusion instead could have kept momentum for Vision instead of shifting it towards Spirit. Also I think Satanic should have itemized differently, he needed Abyssal and Skadi I think, building for an ult that just got Aeon Disked or Ghost Sceptered etc was just bait.

The International 2026 - Grand Final Day

Heartbroken but it was a beautiful final and Spirit deserve to win. Insane gameplay, but I don't understand that final draft. What the fuck is the obsession with picking Juggernaut when everything is on the line in a TI final? It's such a sad hero in a game that has Aeon Disks. And why ban Puck, which Miposhka himself said just isn't a hero? Just ban Dark Seer in the third phase and you have a free game on a illusion hero carry, they can't ban them all. I don't get it.

Still, amazing entertainment and I guess Puppey is destined to be always the bridesmaid, never the bride. As a fan of his, it hurts to see him lose his what... third final? Fourth?

That Bane sleep at the end, man...
