As a Michigander, I can confidently say that this map is a capital crime in my state. Us and Ohio are mortal enemies. It's like labeling New Zealand "Australia".
Right? Also, who knows the map well enough to define the edges of Michigan, remembering it's a mitten and not just a weird peninsula thing, but doesn't actually call it Michigan? It's one of the top 5 recognizable states.
I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps. And, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should—our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children.
My 7th grade geography class had a test where we drew in all the states and then had to label them along with the capitals. Bit of a pain at the time but ultimately knowing that geography in general has been somewhat helpful as an overall life skill.
My eighth grade us history teacher gave quizzes like, you're in Oklahoma, go north two states and go east one state. What state are you now in and what is the capital? Don't remember capitals well but kept sense of geography.
But did they have you draw them in? I remember having to remember them all when I was like 10. But just the names and their capitals. We did not have to draw them. That would have been a hilarious disaster.
I mean, the Columbia valley grows a bunch of corn, along with a bunch of other stuff. It isn’t the miles and miles of nonstop corn of the Midwest, but it is there.
ill pause from dunking to say that its a more acceptable place to live to me than much of us as it does have some public transit. not as extensive as I would like but ill take it over just busses.
Similar to Colorado, only some parts of Minnesota are good. South of Rochester and north of Fridley aren't great. Winona has some good, and Mankato is decent but never took part in the Anti-ICE push. Can't say much about the state west of Mankato though, too close to North Dakota for my tastes (/s). However, climate change discussion sans naming it is highly respected throughout the state, we love our nature.

I've seen many versions of this as, "How Europeans (or conservatives, liberals, etc) see America".

We dont really think much about you dontcha know
Though I think being lumped in with Ohio is much worse. 🤢🤮

Lol ohio, just no
What's the problem? Looks right to me
as a West coaster who has never been to Ohio, yeah looks right to me too.
It looks like the United States is wearing tighty whities
A rather comprehensive map of the US, indeed.
What the hell kind of hardcore geography class has you hand drawing the 48 contiguous states from memory?
My 7th grade geography class had a test where we drew in all the states and then had to label them along with the capitals. Bit of a pain at the time but ultimately knowing that geography in general has been somewhat helpful as an overall life skill.

In Germany, our 9th grade English class focused on American English. We did a test where we had to fill in all the states. But at least not hand draw.
That seems bizarre lol.
I think I've been in classes where I've had to memorize that stuff. TBH, there's probably a mnemonic to remember them all.
But did they have you draw them in? I remember having to remember them all when I was like 10. But just the names and their capitals. We did not have to draw them. That would have been a hilarious disaster.
Ah drawing them in. No, I didn't have to do that.
Depends on the expectations level. Maybe the goal is to recall names and overall positioning of, let's say, 10. That sounds doable.
I'm a little mad at how well that works.
Bit unfair to include the Pacific Northwest in "area 51", IMO. Should have a little sliver up there that just reads "bigfoot territory" or something.
Bigfoot's an alien, close enuf
Also, you're not going to convince me that Portland isn't full of aliens trying to hide in pain sight.
Would you like some more pour over?
Trying to hide?
Hiding from the boss cause they're smoking in the mail room.
I thought it was obvious
"Ohio" should be called "Chicago." So... why are that chick's eyes all swirly? Why does she have one sharp tooth?
She's a bit crazy, but in a good way. Sometimes she's madly in love for Roy, other times she's just mad.
Snaggletooth (though Mimi has more than one fang) is moe.
Dutch seems oddly appropriate for an article about waifus
I think most people would just combine the Area 51 and “Ohio” sections and just call it “corn”…
Combine Area 51 and Ohio, and call it empty space.
There’s a lot of wheat there too.
We don't have much corn up in the PNW
“Corn…and a bit of meth”, then.
You could add "... and a bit of meth" to every place
Now that's what I call Eastern WA
I mean, the Columbia valley grows a bunch of corn, along with a bunch of other stuff. It isn’t the miles and miles of nonstop corn of the Midwest, but it is there.
Then why is corn so fucking expensive up here?
Not enough government subsidies obviously.
“Fields” then
how is south dakota north of dakota?
Where's the problem? South Dakota is South Dakota, not Souther than plain old boring Dakota.
it was from a (hand drawn?) map i can no longer find...
Yeah, as someone in "Ohio" this tracks.
as someone not from ohio I was like. ohio???

This is a pretty accurate summary, source: I lived there.
love the ending.
lol the don't slow down in East Cleveland or you'll die hits hard.

Do you live in Columbus? I heard that's not that bad. I was in Avon/Elyria/Westlake/LOL-rain.
im in the chicago metro. I was just being an ass and dunking on another city when I saw it mentioned.
It's for lovers, you wouldn't understand...
(Not meant as an insult)
I get it. You want to keep them where no one would find them so you don't get caught.
Texas is way bigger than that. It goes halfway up Canada
Can you mark Portland Oregon and some parts of Colorado as “Good United States”
I would also accept Minnesota as a good state. I have nothing but respect for Minnesota.
Portland, OR is pretty good. Bit wary to lump her in with the rest of the US though.
Similar to Colorado, only some parts of Minnesota are good. South of Rochester and north of Fridley aren't great. Winona has some good, and Mankato is decent but never took part in the Anti-ICE push. No, but we can do "Raytheon Acres" in rainbow font.
I don't love being classified as Ohio, but the map seems pretty reasonable.
Forgot about despair.
No way Area 51 would be on a map because it's Top Secret! That's actually the state of "Las Vegas."
And Ohio is crazy, no way such a thing would really exist, it's just a meme. That's actually the state of "The White House."
Big win for New York City when New York consumes Boston
It's cute that you think that
Boston would be the brains, NYC the brawn.
Imagine being so cold hearted to call all of those states Ohio
Ohio - the underpants of the United States. Yep, seems accurate.
