Nobody is really engaging here, so I figured I'd talk about my experience with Rocket League and see if any of you have similar or wildly different stories.

I started playing when it went F2P during COVID. I tried on Switch and my shitty old laptop, but moved to PS4 with my friends, and PS5 later when I got one.

I'm now in my mid to late 30s, mostly playing with friends over some drinks and catching up on how family or work or whatever is going. I watch some YouTube content here and there, and play solo sometimes too, but it's all for fun. I'd like to get a little better, but I'd be happy to hit champ. I've come close, but as I get better, the threshold gets higher. People are hitting flip resets and double taps and shit in diamond, but it wasn't that long ago that diamonds weren't even jumping for most stuff lol.

My buddy and I just won a diamond 2s tournament while slamming some beers, and that felt great. Probably the best individual and team play from us both, ever.

I'm loving the recent additions. I know people are butthurt about losing their mod, but it fixed the cheating problem for a much longer time than I was expecting, and they improved the experience for console peasants like me. I'm cautiously optimistic about the move to UE6.

This is the only competitive multiplayer game I play, and it's nearly the only game I play at all anymore. I was always all about story in games or couch co-op stuff, but Rocket League just feels so different. There's nothing like pulling something off just right. Now that I have such a demanding full time job, it's hard to justify spending any time on Ubisoft slop or whatever anymore. I'd rather hang out over drinks with my friends 200 miles away and play against the middle schoolers that are down here in diamond with us lol.

Drove from NoVA to the NW part of SC today in my 22 Bolt EUV. I used ABRP to route to chargers and put the addresses into Google maps to check reviews and GPS me there. The car is J1772/CCS, but I bought an adapter ahead of time to make use of Tesla/NACS chargers.

Unfortunately, this car only has a max charge rate of 55kW, so my refueling stops are either more frequent or longer than I would like, but I don't do road trips often and this car was half the price of the ioniq I wanted.

I had one issue today. A Tesla supercharger I stopped at just wouldn't initialize the charge. I even tried plugging into another one right next to it, but no dice. I've since learned that V2 superchargers won't work with my car even with an adapter, so I guess that's what that one was? I have no way of knowing. ABRP and Google maps don't specify. Maybe the Tesla app does? Thankfully, there was an Electric America charger just a couple miles away, but I was pretty stressed out since I was pretty well drained and didn't know where I was.

The hotel we're at has level 2 chargers, so I shouldn't need to deal with unfamiliar chargers again until we head back to NoVA. In the meantime, I've deselected NACS chargers from my ABRP vehicle options. It's possible that my adapter just died after only a few successful uses, but the location I had an issue with had a review of somebody else being unable to charge, so I think it's just that V2 issue.

In summary, the difference has been that it takes a little longer, it takes a little more planning and preparing, and there is a risk of some anxiety, but it's easier to drive, less chance of "car trouble" events, and especially right now it is significantly cheaper to refuel. But get something that accepts at least 100kW charging lol. I think the ioniq does like 240kW? With that, you basically plug in, use the bathroom, grab a coffee, and you're ready to go.

I don't quite understand the criticism. It's not gonna be top of the line, but it's more than enough to replace my dying laptop from 2015 that I pretty much only ever use like a desktop anyway. And I can save myself the time and effort of picking parts, building, and dealing with shit not working as expected.

They're really trying to glorify this guy and pretend he had no flaws? They're really trying to launch civil war 2 over this loser? Sad.
