How come Ukraine or Russia doesn't have something like this?
Portable personal radar on helmet with a tablet or wrist thing that says when and where drones are so they can shoot them.

I have taken almost a year long break from reading fiction to focus on non-fiction. I am ready to start reading fiction again, but after such a long break I have no idea where to start.
Here are some books I have enjoyed in the past:
Or were all the old second counting systems wrong?
Many people have pointed out that if you start a timer on your phone and count out to 45 Mississippis, hippopotamus or number-one thousands it now ties out to a minute.
I have tried it a dozen times myself and after 45 counts I get anywhere between 54 to a minute and 4 seconds.
I specifically remember counting chunks of time as long as 15 minutes and not being off by a minute.
My idea is some non profit gets setup to manage a system where someone announces their mortgage and then they can have friends, family and second and third degree friends and families finance your loan.
Let's say someone buys a $250k house. Each person puts in $100 and then they get a receipt showing they are owed $200 against their 1/2500th share of the mortgage. Repayments are paid the $200 in return in a random time frame of between the first month to the last month 30 years later. Repayment is completely randomized, meaning you could get your money back really soon... Or a really long time from then.
There are a lot of other ways you could build on this idea.

I hate how so many people act like every kind of art or media is now derivative because someone else out of billions of people and thousands of years had a somewhat similar idea.
The Daily has a good recent episode about this.

Occasionally there will be a popup saying the phone is putting apps that haven't been used in a while to sleep to save battery. Why doesn't it just do this all the time? Why does an app need to be "awake" if I am not using it?

You would think someone would have thought to encase two shells in like a cage in headphones so you can listen to the ocean while you sleep. It's like a sound machine, but no battery required.
I came to the realization that I couldn't think of an example of when vertical integration isn't just an older name for enshittification. Apple owning an app store, Amazon being a marketplace and seller, etc. What examples of vertical integration aren't bad? Are there any?
