Great what better candidate for being in charge of warfare than a person who hires someone to play a MMORPG under his account so that he can impress gamers.

Yeah, being a CEO is clearly not the full-time job that requires marathon-level endurance that the Acela class likes to paint it as.

96
lemmy.world

He's the CEO of five companies. If he really works 100 hours a week like he says (and maybe ketamine does make that possible), that means being a CEO is at best a part-time job.

19

Yup. 100%. People have been saying for decades that being a CEO (often expanded out to CxOs, too) is like being some kind of super-star athlete and that people in those positions get paid many many many multiples of the average wage of employees they oversee because they are just operating next level and work so fucking hard and so many hours, too.

Virtually every time Elon hits the news we are all reminded in quite stark terms what complete bullshit that narrative was.

(and maybe ketamine does make that possible),

Most certainly not how ketamine works. Would be the opposite, if anything.

when given to healthy volunteers, the drug induced paranoia, perceptual changes and a wide range of other symptoms including disorganisation of thought, negativism, apathy, withdrawal, poverty of speech, perseveration and catatonic posturing.

I dunno, this sounds like most of the CEOs I've interacted with personally.

It’s always been about returning to the indentured servitude and elite wealthy man controlled world that was temporarily interrupted with an experiment in civil rights, workers rights, women’s rights, etc.

They figured out all they had to do was pause progress in the economic sector for all the minority groups that benefited from those movements, and drastically and continually increase the funneling of resources and profits into the hands of the one group that used to control and own it all, making it only a matter of time until we returned to the good old days.

Why do you have to drag Acela into this?! It's a wonderful service! Why the fuck do Americans have to turn European levels of comfort, ease, and efficiency into an insult?! It's cheaper than flying, ffs.

2

I've had relatives that ride it every day (their companies paid for it). I'm sure it works well. Honestly, I wish we had high speed rail all over the United States. It's rather embarrassing how far behind we are on mass transit.

However, the way it is perceived, people traveling up and down "the Acela corridor" skew toward the upper class. So has the same color as those "Lexus lanes".

Somehow Musk has time to shitpost on Twitter for hours, run the US military and be the CEO of like 5 companies. Guess he saves a lot of time by not spending any time with his children.

11
lemmy.world

I'm not a scientist or politician or wizard or anything, but I bet Elon will manage to scrape up some products and services to help the USA with future warfare; very expensive products.

I have a feeling that we will pay for those products and services for many decades with the help of Vanguard and JP Morgan Chase, and that we will appoint their staff to the Fed to control our monetary policy.

I predict that those products and services will be unsatisfactory

6

And I predict that politicians, after the check clears, will declare how successful these products and services are.

Elon Musk knows about as much about war as I do about quantum physics.

3

Something with waves and particles, and uncertainty, and they spin or whatever. Things can be linked so that changing one thing has an effect elsewhere... I think that nore or less covers it.

Honestly, that seems like a good analogy. I know a little, enough to be confidently incorrect about cats and could probably bullshit my way through a conversation with someone whose knowledge ends at the term "quantum computer".

But unlike Musk, I know the limits of my competence and would assemble a board of experts and actually listen to them rather than arbitrarily rejecting their naysaying and substituting whatever "epiphany" I had when stoned out of my mind.

Also, I'm not a kiddy diddler, which already makes me a much better pick for any position of power.

“Just imagine how many people he could kill if he was trying!” - Pete the deadbeat, probably

....smh our military is doomed why are we going to war instead of defense we do not want war we want to defend homeland.

There's an ancient proverb that goes like: "If your Senate is made only of warriors, it'll be a rule of idiots. If the army is made only of philosophers, wars would be fought by cowards. Both must have both."

1

and if the country is lead by corruption it will cease to exist. we do not need the corrupt lets rid ourselves of the epstein class.

1

Pete faked benching like 300 pounds or something with some enlisted people. The weights were not normal but like ten pounders made to look like the big ones.

Pete Hegseth, is a pussy bitch. Pass it on.

20

I'm so fucking tired of living here. Self-centered assholes and ignorance fucking everywhere. We're way overdue for some hard fucking collapse.

2

Tell me about it. Teaching English in Korea is sounding really good right now.

3
lemmy.world

Because appointing him head of DOGE was so successful... This is the absolutely dumbest fucking timeline possible.

24
lemmy.world

Thing is DOGE was successful at destroying many government agencies. That was always its intended goal, chaos.

Does this mean that the future of warfare is Ketamine benders and "Roman" salutes?

Where have we seen this before...

12

It's too bad he didn't get addicted to a more dangerous drug.

All his supplier needs to do to become a literal worldwide hero, would be to slip a very tiny amount of fentanyl into his ketamine.

Do the world a favor. Be a hero.

1

The guy who claimed Stealth was obsolete because of LIDAR + AI.

Yup, he forgot clouds exist and will now be predicting future military tech. I'm sure this will go brilliantly.

He stopped carrying his human shield kid around?

6

He developed a personality so he threw him out, now he needs to wait until the younger Kevlar grows up.

1
lemmy.world

Dont they gave bullets that can go through concrete before hitting their target?

3

Well I don't think he was carrying the kid around to stop the bullets per se, more to deter anyone from shooting him in front of his innocent kid. Like he was kinda trying to guilt trip any potential assassins. Elon is not the brightest.

4

That’s why I say hey man nice shot. What a good shot man.

Aw man, this guy again!?

14

Thats exactly what the Bay Area furries community said every time Elon Musk tried to join in back around 2008. True story.

7

… thus proving he is both equally, and exponentially dumber than himself.

10

A year after his explosive tenure at Doge, the SpaceX CEO is back in the Trump administration’s good graces

Elon is the one with power and Trump is conceding to this fact.

If I create an SAT analogy from that quote and the other Matrix quote that inspired the vulture capital firm Bending Spoons, I have a great idea for a company.

We can call it Biting Onions. And instead of using capitalistic principles to enshittify, it will subvert capitalistic principles to block enshittification.

For example:

  • Buy distressed patent assets or R&D explicitly to dedicate them to the public domain.
  • Counterbid evil investors for tools or platforms to avoid extreme harm from other bidders (e.g., imagine a counterbid for Twitter).
  • Seed-fund unions in underleveraged, corporate wage-theft-common industries, requiring only that the new unions to contribute parts of their dues back to the fund to accelerate more seed-funding of unions.
  • Venture capital tech startups with explicit caps on executive pay and barriers on anti-human/customer/citizen conduct (e.g., a lowest-to-highest-paid-employee metric or prohibiting SaaS/subscription fee business models baked into contractual funding requirements).

Some of this requires altruism and is likely money-losing (I mean, Twitter was never worth what Musk paid for it, unless you factor in the "value" to an evil sociopath), but like Valve, I think companies that have a set mission and that reach stability would actually have competitive advantages. After all, "suck blood until host dies" is a model that is self-sabotaging in the end.

You magnificent bastard!

I’m in. When’s the IPO; or can I get in during the alpha funding round?

2

Step 1: Be a billionaire.

But I kid, if I was a more effectual person I could essentially recreate Kickstarter to crowdsource this with little initial investment.

2

Welp, guess that's gonna be bankrupt in 6 weeks or less. What a fucking friendless loser Musk is.

7

Also Palmer Luckey just flying under the radar (beneath the bloated corpse-like Hindenberg of Musk's profile).

I suppose Luckey should have been the first horseman of the tech apocalypse, since back in pre-timeline-flip 2016 he was bragging about spending to elect Trump via shitposting, back when we all at least still thought Musk was sane( r ).

5

Just when you thought he was done, Musk comes back to take whatever is bolted down.

4

Sneak peek at Elon: "More bots on twatter is the future of war! US government, please buy my bots. "

US government: OK, here's like 8 Billion dollars.

3

God damn it. Hegseth was too dumb and powerless to build skynet.

Musk is actually capable of wielding his power to build hundreds of thousands of autonomous murderer drones that roam the planet.

3
piefed.social

Cool so funnel taxpayer dollars into musk companies, musk installs backdoor order 66 into weaponized ai and robotics systems that are mass produced, musk replaces US with the garbage empire and installs himself as emperor.

Am I missing anything?

3
lemmy.world

Well finally!!

It will be great to have those FSD Tanks on the battlefield and I’d wager that with fElon’s great brain it’ll be in only a year Right ?

3

With humanoid robots manning the turrets by 2028, yuuuuuup.

3

i guess those 'ai' doomsday predictions are gonna come true.

2

Can we drop some of those new Ukrainian ground drones at his house for testing?
