I said "Oh he was a human being, he didn't deserve to die, I didn't agree with him, but they shouldn't have killed him."

Naw fuck that, he was a fascist and fascists don't stop until everyone else is wiped out. What Tyler Robinson did was defend his country.

Are you insinuating we shouldn't be at least mildly celebrating?

Like when Graham died?

Like when that ice agent unalived himself after getting fired?

unalived

can you please not use such atrocious corpo slop language like this?

14

tick tock did a better job at getting these kids to willingly sensor themselves than 100 years of US propaganda.

4

Did he deserve to die that fast and to suffer that few? Or are gun still not the best tools even in his case?

3

I stole the meme from another community because the image was taken off imgur.

21

They are, but it's because that's just how that ugly mf looked. Probably a genetic disorder from inbreeding or something.

4

Nobody else could seem to get it done, he really took it upon himself.

In another thread, 5 minutes ago, someone just tried to educate me that Hitler didn’t actually kill anybody - and this was the first thought that popped into my head.

I'm recently confident that Putin hasn't killed anybody. He has people killed but they always have this thin veneer of accident about them, he can't actually bring himself to just commit a brutal murder, and own it.

1

He was a KGB officer before becoming dictator president, so… uh? He could well have actually killed someone. But, yeah, now he has the boys take care of business for him.

5

I have never seen a picture of him where I was 100% sure his face hadn't been scaled down. And I like it that way.

19
feddit.uk

Everything about his death is just amazingly poetic, he was killed by one of his own for not being enough of a bastard, while he was speaking at a school about how there is no gun violence problem in America.

22

And furthermore, he's on record having stated that he truly believes gun deaths are an acceptable trade off to have a society with virtually unfettered access to guns. It's one thing to say that on a podcast, but he really stuck his neck out to support the idea.

Where is his grave, anyway? In case I’m in the area and need a bathroom.

They apparently never disclosed, presumably because they know what people will want to do to it. We can safely assume somewhere in the state of Arizona, though.

I suppose being so hated that you can't even have a publicly accessible headstone is an easy way to help be forgotten to time sooner.

22

with her demon eyes, and candace his BFF really hates erika, alleged erika was in on it.

4

The same reason they never mentioned where they dumped hitlers corpse?

That should help put things into perspective

5

Presumably it will be harder to hide Trump's bodies since all the grass will die in a 30 foot area due to all the bronzer leaking into the soil

8

It doesnt matter anyways. Kirk isnt truly dead. Whenever he receives a mortal wound, he just gets resurrected into a body with an even tinier face.

Here now, credit where it's due: His grave marker doubles as an excellent public urinal.

2

Guns kill, yeah. And his guns didn’t protect him. So….

I’ll take people more seriously about this issue once they become honest about why they want guns.

3
sh.itjust.works

I don't want rapey dudes to think they can move on me without the risk of winding up dead. Same goes for cops. That's the one social contract that they can't disregard.

4

I'm fine with people having them; I just think the vetting/training should be more thorough. Charlie got popped by the kind of gun that most would agree should be easy to buy, though. You used to be able to order that sort of thing to your house from the Sears Catalog.

In order:

  1. Emergency self/home defense

  2. Broadly, shooting is a lot of fun. Target shooting, competition shooting, trap and skeet, old west action shooting, it's all a ton of fun when done safely and responsibly. It's the same appeal as darts, horseshoes, cornhole, axe throwing, bowling, archery, any activity where the object is to accurately launch a projectile. It's an ancient human pastime and a natural thing to like, shooting is just the modern version of it.

Hunting is also a lot of fun, but deserves to be addressed separately. For most hunters, it's all about enjoying the outdoors with your friends. "Putting meat on the table" generally isn't involved with it. Deer tags are given out on a lottery basis here, so it's rare to even have the opportunity. If you do harvest one, unless you have a big freezer, you'll probably end up giving most of it away before it spoils. Most other furbearers will be infected with some sort of disease, parasite, bot fly larvae, etc. so they generally aren't eaten. But, that doesn't mean there's no value in the activity. One critical aspect of environmental conservation is controlling the population of invasive species, and hunters are an important part of that effort. More broadly, hunting and environmental conservation are closely tied to each other, both economically and in terms of desired outcomes. Here, rabbit season is an important part of protecting farmers' crops, promoting ecological diversity, and preventing their predator populations from growing too large.

All of that to say, I like hunting because it's fun to be outdoors with friends, but I also like it because it's good for the environment and lets me feel like I'm contributing to something bigger than myself for others to enjoy.

I want to see a reduction in gun violence in the US, but I don't believe gun bans lead to a reduction in gun violence. If access to guns were the only cause of gun violence, then we'd see a lot more gun violence in countries like Finland and Switzerland, where the rate of firearm ownership is higher than the US. In those countries, citizens don't have double barrel shotguns and .22 rifles, they have military-grade hardware and they're trained to use it. So it's not access to deadly military-grade weapons that causes gun violence either.

The real causes of gun violence are poverty, unemployment, drug abuse, and mental health. If you fund programs that treat the underlying causes of gun violence, you'll see a reduction in gun violence.

All any ban will do is make complying with the law more difficult for the responsible, law-abiding citizens who you shouldn't really be worried about anyway.

Emergency self/home defense

I've always found this highly questionable on its own terms. You're way more likely to get yourself or your family killed if you introduce a gun into the situation. Gun nut fantasies always involve them getting the drop on an intruder in the middle of the night, when the reality is that they're way more likely to have the drop on you.

3
lemmy.ml

Plus, it's more likely that the gun will kill an inhabitant of the home. Every statistic shows that. So having one at home makes you less safe.

The only thing that I've heard that makes some lick of sense is that with a gun, you're never out of options: you at least have the option to try and defend yourself, whereas without one you're at the mercy of people with guns.

But of course that doesn't hold up in practice either. So the verdict is that guns are for emotional support.

1

'Muricans think action movies are documentaries

And they want to kill people, they're just itching for an excuse

1

Most other furbearers will be infected with some sort of disease, parasite, bot fly larvae, etc. so they generally aren’t eaten

From first hand experience, groundhog tastes fucking amazing. Literally #2 spot on my personal list of favorite meats, right after minke whale. Just make sure it's cooked well done so you don't risk getting parasites. And if eaten, it's not just payback for destroying my garden, I'm actually getting some of those garden nutrients back.

You go around contradictorily claiming to do random jobs and that you live in many random places. I somehow doubt you really don't know, and if you don't, you probably don't care. Are you actually a bot?

And before anyone gets up in arms at me check their post history. It's bizarre af.

What the hell, that account is extremely weird... It's a troll, or a bot, and if it's the latter, then the Threadiverse might be suffering sort of a bot invasion...

6

it specifically goes around college campus making bad faith arguments with students, before he moved to national stage.

His head and face features are so god damned weird. That and he was a terrible person.

It's been over a year and besides some Americans, no one gives a fuck. And still so many posts about this nobody.

1

Look, we don't have a lot to celebrate here in America. We'll need a lot more outcomes like this before things get any better.

2

I'd have been happy with “he decided to remove himself from public life” or any other reason why he would be unable to spread his hatred.

Death works.

8

I don't mourn people who call for the restoration of segregation or the stoning of queers.

6

I think that's the fuckin' point of the whole "gun regulation" debate, hence the meme... He lived by the sword and died by the sword.

He was askin for it, did you see how he was dressed? He wanted his fill (of lead) and they left him gushing.

Do you want Democrats to win elections?

If so, celebrating the assassination of individuals that you don't agree with is a very bad look, and won't earn you any votes.

If you want Republicans to win, proceed.

(you require independent votes to win any national election. Even if D turnout is 100%, you can't win without independents, and a significant portion of independents are against murder; even if the target is pro 2nd amendment and anti-abortion).

-12

individuals you don’t agree with…

You mean fuckin’ white-supremacist, bigoted, misogynistic, transphobic, anti-vax, pro-fascist hate-spewing propagandists?

Yeah I vehemently “disagree” with them and want them removed from this planet. Sorry if that offends fringe voters.

7

Nah, screw you. I'm not the one constantly thinking about a dead dude. People can't even admit who killed him.

If you're so focused on team politics that you can't even imagine "your side" killing someone you like, you're a lost cause. People like that will not help us at all long term.

4

Just because I'm not in favour of murdering people doesn't mean I'm upset this shitbag is no longer stealing oxygen. Happy accident, as it were. I doubt most indies miss this particular douche nozzle.

3

Do you want to win elections?

No, I want to own my opponents. That is way more fun than doing actual work. And I am tired that only republicans get to do it.

2

Go spin this shit to the right wingers and make them vote correctly
