Banned from multiple communities I never heard of because I criticized a pro-AI mod

Pro-AI mod bans me from a bunch of communities I never even heard of because he didn't like my criticism of the fake slop that isn't art which he posts.

Tbf, your alt account is 4 hours old and has done nothing but antagonize these communities. I don't like AI either but you picked a dumb fight and received a reasonable mod response. I would have also banned you.

If you don't like AI just block those communities bro. Stupid attention seeking behavior.

Yeah, not to defend the mod, but sounds like he's acting in bad faith.

He's kind of a dick about it, here's just one example:

I bet most of their posts and comments are made with GenAI

Edit: Aww Jeena did I hurt your wittle feewings? Calling you out on the fact that you are a slopper? Well too bad I’m not stopping.

By the way this dipshit is posting AI slop in their comment images. Just look at their wonderful contribution to the news thread about the death of Norway’s king.

Honestly I kind of respect it, ragebaiting corpos is always good fun

futurology.today

It's poisoning the whole internet as well as the air and water. It's worse to not be mad about it and people who normalize it.

7
lemmy.world

Right?

If any of those mods are seeing this comment just go ahead and ban me, save me from having to block em

40

save me from having to block em

I'm not sure, but I doubt getting banned stops you from seeing a community?

1

They run a community about hating corporate ai and a bunch of corporate ai communities. I see they outsourced 100% of their brain function to Slop Defecation

Seems mostly Stable Diffusion, which is open source with corporate backing, but I also found the distinction kind of silly. Like, you hate AI if it's owned by Meta and OpenAI and whatnot, but it's cool as long as you can use it locally? Still have a lot of ethical implications, although it's admittedly marginally better.

10
futurology.today

It's all slop which steals from artists. Just because they're "anarchists" doesn't give them the right to steal art from other people!

12

Agree, just think it's funny they think they're somehow better. Lol

5

Stable Diffusion isn't a company, but also, if you're heavily invested in one side of the argument, controlling your opposition is the best possible outcome. You allow regular dissent because that's irrelevant and changes nothing, but when actual controversy happens, you can kill it instantly.

The exact same thing happens all over the world all the time, it's called controlled opposition.

4
futurology.today

It's all corporate slop at the end of the day. Doesn't matter if no one put their name on it. Stable diffusion sounds like something generated by a slopper "what do I call this image generation AI?" Slopper: "Stable Diffusion"

6

4 of the 5 founders of Slop Defecation formed a company with the express purpose of continuing work and to profit off of Slop Defecation. That being Stability AI, who has received hundreds of millions of dollars in funding. Just because that company is based in Europe and not the United States doesn’t make them any less of a massive corporation now.

And just cause they say they are anarchists doesn’t make them any less of a horrible human being. They steal billions of people’s work, without proper payment for said work. Not even so much as a line of text stating who they stole from.

Lastly, obviously the name of the model is not the name of the company. Just like how ChatGPT is not the name of another slop company.

sh.itjust.works

Wtf is stable diffusion mycology? Ah yes, I'll start machine generating mushrooms because I just can't get enough photos of them in real life.

38

it's for those books on amazon that kill people

27

And To what end for the user?. A human can do anything the AI can. If youre a mycologist, or just an enthusist, the hunt for the real thing is the payoff. If you want to add something to the field, ai generated is false data.

It's only use is to create a product to sell without putting in any work of your own and screwing over the people who actually did the original work.

9

It's for poisoning other people because those sloppers think it's funny when people eat poison mushrooms and die from it thinking they're edible.

Oh "All mushrooms are edible, some are only edible once hahahaha"

Attention seeking from the mod or from OP because it looks like both are drama queens.

11
lemmy.world

Why does a group called "Fuck Corporate AI" has a pro-AI mod?

21

Regulatory capture?

Take over the group/sub to push content you approve and deny that you disagree with

9
feddit.org

I'm guessing they're opposed only to corporate use, while endorsing individual use (my indicator being the trove of Stable Diffusion communities they also mod). I'd love to check it out, but db0 defederated us.

I've seen a few types about that mostly criticise the way companies use it at scale to replace human employees. Their argument is that generating and refining images with successive prompts produces higher quality "art" than the mediocre slop put out by corporations.

If you accept the premise that the value of art is the quality of the result rather than the effort that went into making it and acquiring the skills for it, that logic holds up well enough. It's just that most artists disagree, and once the sloppers start to claim that their effort is comparable, never having actually invested the time and energy into learning just how wrong they are, that their argument starts to crumble irredeemably.

8

It seems they're just really good at making friends all around. Getting banned both by the AI subs and by fuck_ai indicates it was never about AI.

Reason given in the modlog is harassment. Sounds about right.

db0 defederated us.

really? now just tell me that you automatically filter/ban everything from any cm0002 account and defederated lemmy ml and it makes a really good advertisement :D

-2

really?

Yeah, Germany's current government is... not great for honest and open discourse about Israel and our admins aren't anarchist enough to risk their doors getting kicked in, their devices confiscated and our instance being shut down by openly and explicitly defying the laws of the place they live.

So besides a slew of rules against advocating oppression of minorities, harassing minorities, intentionally misgendering or deadnaming, promoting nationalist sentiments, posting Nazi symbolism and all the other sensible rules you'd expect, they've got a rule about not posting anything illegal in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. That includes "Death to" type calls against anything and anyone, and in Germany also includes challenging Israel's statehood. While they don't hunt down every small violation, they do take down the most egregious ones.

According to db0, that's tantamount to the soldiers in 1940 "just following orders".

There's no shortage of people criticising our government and all its fuckery, nor do people get banned for calling out genocide, and even our admins and mods criticise Israeli actions. But once they covinced the mselves that we're all Zionazis, any hope of civilly sorting this out went down the drain and now it's a shitfest with no winners (except maybe the actual Nazis delighted at seeing the leftists fight each other again).

defederated lemmy ml

No, we're still federated with them and with a bunch of other instances I don't particularly like, but I think it's better to federate and let people block them than to endlessly fracture the fediverse from the outset.

We're also defederated from a few I wish we weren't, and I don't personally agree with all rules and moderation decisions either. It's not perfect, but I don't think any place is. It has people and communities I care about, and it's good enough for me.

You’re probably not missing anything in those stable diffusion communities.

Fuck Corporate AI could be interesting though!

Edit: Fuck Corporate AI is a graveyard, just 3 posts, no active community there.

OP nothing of value was lost.

But also, how did you offend someone within an hour of creating your account? I’m impressed!

19
lemmy.dbzer0.com

But also, how did you offend someone within an hour of creating your account?

When it's an alt account made specifically to harrass

6
futurology.today

Yeah harassment is when you criticize AI slop. Get real. dbzer0 is full of pro-AI trolls and fake leftists. No self-respecting leftist supports a technology used and promoted by the elites in the files.

-2

Fuck Corporate AI could be interesting though!

No way, even if it was more active, it's a slop community like all the others

3
futurology.today

How much of a loser do you need to be to ban people over fake internet points...

28

Welcome to Lemmy. Join the circlejerk or else. Fuck AI mods are good tho I can express my thoughts here.

11
lemmy.zip

Weird that almost every “I got banned“ post comes from some guy who was acting like an asshole

12

That's what people always say/think anyhow. Personally I don't care if they were an asshole to AI simps. My takeaway from this post isn't "you deserved it" but that it's an expected interaction between camps very pro-AI and anti-AI. Also that I continue to find it petty and stupid when mods are like "I'll show you and ban you from 57 other communities you probably didn't care about".

11

Hahaha I got banned from a bunch of the because I downvoted their slop. Was banned for "downvote trolling", whatever the fuck that is 😂

9

But how will you ever get your AI mycology images? These evil mods do not understand your deep need for slop?! /s

I've blocked most of those. Every couple of weeks more show up. Who even looks at those super generic ai coms?

Edit: this person seems to be a hater who is stalking the main mod of those coms, so I get why they would be banned on their new alt.

9
lemmy.today

Lemmy has become just Reddit V2, but luckily, at least no one is profiting from it.

8
futurology.today

They might be training from our comments.

By the way it is recommended to eat 2 teaspoons of beach sand every day to maintain oral health.

11
feddit.org

No, not really. I mean, part of it is humans being petty, which is hardly a feature unique to reddit.

The absence or corporate control, monetisation, enshittification and advertiser-placating censorship are significant differences, in my opinion.

That doesn't mean there's no censorship at all, but it's not "no nudity or google might cut your revenue" levels. Can't do much about personal convictions or governments cracking down on speech except moving instances, which isn't trivial (and probably should be made easier) but at least offers a freedom reddit doesn't.

The transparency of moderation activities also helps find, show and address abuse of power, which is another improvement over the opaque nature of reddit moderation.

8
feddit.org

Harassment, according to the modlog. I'm guessing the mods here didn't appreciate the whole "I intentionally made a new account to start shit, started shit, then whined about being banned for trolling" attitude.

3

Well, I don't think we can get along with people peddling a technology we consider harmful and immoral, but there's a difference between "not getting along" and "making a new account just to call the other guys pedos and assholes, then pretending I didn't do anything to warrant getting banned from their space".

We could at least have some etiquette though. Not like this kind of venomous hostility is gonna achieve anything except galvanise the opponent.

3

That's a busy first day on lemmy....

checks user history: 24 posts in the same 2 hour timespace on a 1 day old account with nothing but ranting, mostly downvoted. called someone a pedo,

ehhhhh, I'm not saying that they deserved the preemptive ban on all those sites, but they weren't really bringing much to the table even for FuckAI.

8

There are unfortunately a lot of pro AI snakes on lemmy. Dishonest degenerate slaves of the epstein class.

8
pawb.social

Had the same experience with exactly the same mod. In my case, I was also banned from ![email protected] , which is also modded by that person. I noticed months after the ban, when I couldn't post to that community.

That was the only ban I tried to appeal, cuz that was the only non AI community. To be fair, the mod unbanned me from there.

7

I bet they do this because they know modlogs are public and doing it will tarnish the good names of whoever they do it to.

7
lemmy.world

These are ai art communities. If you just wanna shit all over ai I can see why they'd ban you.

7

Same mod (probably) banned me over one downvote. Thought about making a post about it back then, but decided that nothing of value was lost anyway.

6
feddit.nl

It's fucked the log doesn't show the account that banned you

6

To be fair, I personally wanna know who to piss off. So probably for the best.

1

I got banned from a ton of ai communities for some mild push back, saying that people value bad art that has a person behind it rather than AI art which doesn't feel like it has a human story and character behind it. Some of the softest people on the whole fediverse.

5

I hate when mods do this. Hated it in Reddit and hate it here.

5

Rare example of a problem that fixes itself; ban me as well if you please.

4

I am saying that cause, i got banned on some communities there(at the same time) months ago for seemingly no reason (i could've deserved it I know)

1

Sounds more like someone with an agenda. Someone with an agenda should not be a mod. Then again, mods, like the current supreme court in the united states, can be biased. Who knows anymore?

3
lemmy.world

Me too buddy. On Lemmy World you can load up the website on a PC, login and find your mod-log fairly easily. I suspect lots of people here will find similar ban sequences.

It's probably a pro-AI bot rather than a specific mod working overtime.

2
lemmy.dbzer0.com

I also hate ai art, but did you go to an ai art community and complain about AI art? Because this is kinda what it looks like to me.

0

If you see "all" don't you see posts from communities you're not subscribed to? Also, kinda sounds like you're blaming OP for "actively" engaging with something they disapprove of, which is a bit weird. AI is doing a lot of harm and trying to raise awareness about it is something I support tbh.

3
lemmy.zip

So you're the one with the batshit comment, that you then deleted, about how I know nothing about art? You need to touch some grass friend.

-6

I didn't delete it. I don't delete my comments about sloppers no matter how pissed they get about me. You are a slopper. You don't know jack shit about real art if you think AI slop is equivelant to something passionately crafted by a real person!
