Bloodborne always.

Continuing my playthrough of Dark Souls 2 for the first time. Currently planning on taking on the poisonous windmill village the name of which I forget. Been having a pretty good time with it. But boy that game is big. Cool though, and I'm enjoying immersing into the world.

Playing a bit of a jack of all trades as I tend to do, but trying to put emphasis on slightly more Dexterityish weapons (Halberd, though I swap situationally).

Always and forever: bloodborne.

There are many layers to my love for the game but one of the aspects that really captured me was how similar some of the vistas and spaces felt like a type of recurring dream I had as a child, probably born of some painting reproductions my parents had at the house and that were both enticing and unsettling. And...the feeling of peaceful solitude you get after clearing an area of the map and you are free to traverse a word full of secrets and somewhat interconnected paths.

I did not grow up on videogames so when I got to bloodborne as an adult, it felt like re discovering something of mine long lost. And the actual significance of dreams in the game made that connection all the more impactful at the time.

More recently, some areas of DS1 hit that same way as well.

Super excited to jump into Mortal Shell 2 this weekend! I was a fan of the first and the changes they made to the combat system. Sounds like this new one went even further and they added some cool new mechanics.

Sekiro & ds1 are my comfort souls. And sekiro's play style really doesn't stick with you if you put it down for long enough. I just picked up my deck after a few months of not having time to see I stopped right before guardian ape. He didn't give me too much trouble my first playthrough, and I first tried dual apes. But man it took almost thirty minutes of just bashing my head into that brick wall until it cracked

Elden Ring, trying to beat the game at level 1

I'm literally playing both games you mentioned and tired of getting my ass handed to me. So I've been playing SilkSong to get my ass beat in 2D instead

Also I revisit Elden ring from time to time to run a different build, though dual great swords in power stance is still my favorite!

Honestly, I don't replay games much these days, so I don't know if any of them would be. If anyone, then Dark Souls 1 I guess. It's the old classic, it's easier and less mechanically complex than later games, so I'm not going to get tilted by it and it's just enjoyable to traverse its world. And I have played it a few times. Always fun to do some Great Scything or dual Tracers in NG+ for the style factor.

Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree was also really comfortable to play. Not too complicated, not too hard, plenty of QoL, just kind of nice to play without having to think too hard. But despite playing through it twice I am not sure I'll play it again. I don't usually let myself replay games much, anymore.

If im in a really bad place and need a comfort game to lose myself in I'm probably more likely to boot up Football Manager or Civ V, and for shorter sessions maybe Ninja Gaiden 2.

Not going to be playing anything this weekend probably. I have some other plans this weekend, and also The International is ongoing, which is the one week during the year I care about Dota again. So I'll try to watch as many games as I can. Hopefully I won't miss the final on Sunday.

I've never gotten so good at any soulslike that it was comfortable, personally. I go to games like that to struggle, and perhaps eventually triumph. As soon as I stop being a scrub, I'm generally done for good.

I do hope to try again with Sekiro someday. It's such a perfect game that I just haven't invested enough in yet.

I still haven't finished Sekiro. I'm at that point where the palace is under attack and I'm afraid if I rush to the end without exploring every path I'll miss something.

Lies of P might have become mine too. It's that snappy animation, aesthetic and campy/dramatic tone. The music hard-carries too. Quixotic

Elden Ring has really become my comfort game. I'm intimately with it's many system. I know many areas like the back of my hand. But due to the sheer number of option I can make each playthrough feel unique. I can also give myself an additional challenge like not leveling up. Or I make a busted INT build and cackle while I'm melting Bosses.

I just finished my DS3 SL1 run and it was really in the nick of time. I probably would have to pause it since my weekend and the start (and maybe the entire next week) will be busy and stressful.

If I find the time, I'm going to make use of the Boss Rematch feature in Lies of P. It's been a while since I played that game and I don't feel like starting a new playthrough when I don't actually have the time. And I want to see if Lies of P still has that amazing gameplay feel that I remember.

I'm almost done with Another Crab's Treasure. I think. I'm fighting an electric eel and after that I think it's time for Roland, the guy set up as the final boss. There are these purple blocks all over the world that the game hasn't let me do anything about yet so maybe there's a victory lap where I revisit old locations before Roland? Not sure, but looking forward to finding out!
