I think the plan is to keep doing weird stuff until we kill ourselves.

We've been doing weird stuff like this all along though, just look at beer, wine, cheese, kombucha etc etc. We let things get moldy then eat em drink em

Yeah we used to grind up mummies into powder to make paint and stuff, it was a color called Mummy Brown

Honey mummy, bread mummy, jerky mummy, if we find ourselves a cheese mummy we've got a damn fine sandwich!

But that 100% will NOT be the yeast that was used to make bread from back then.

You can get yeast from basically any decaying organic matter. May as well get it from any old corpse. This is just corpse bread - and who wants corpse bread???

It could be delicious. I'm willing to test it. For science!

The scientists then reproduced the gut yeast in a fridge.

So they didn't actually destroy any part of the mummy, they just used bacteria sourced from the mummy that they multiplied anyways for further study.

Yeast is a fungus, but otherwise right.

It's an interesting article. Also kind of horrifying.

Yes, but isnt it pOssible that those batteries may have come from an extra-terrestrial source, as some ancient astronaut theorists believe?

these guys got so jealous of the scientists making beer/wine out of yeasts found from the dead sea they decided to make bread out of a desiccated corpse.

at least they will be able to say, "just like mummy made it"

"Mom! Mom! After years of hard work and study I've finally managed to become a scientist."

"That's awesome, honey! What do you do?"

"I make bread out of stuff from dead peoples' guts."

"..."

Who even looks at that and thinks, "Y'know what? I want toast! Actually, I've got a hankerin' for jerky, too, if I'm being honest".
